I use Placidus houses, which is what I’ve noticed is most accurate for me. Under Whole Sign, things are definitely much easier to understand, but you don’t get the information I’m about to say, because my 1st house is mostly in Sagittarius and the transit was largely during Pluto in Sagittarius rather than Pluto in Scorpio. Since I have a Scorpio Ascendant, Whole Sign would say that Pluto in Sagittarius was transiting my 2nd house instead of my first house.

Another thing to note is Pluto in Scorpio is conjunct my Ascendant from 12th house in my natal chart. As you can imagine, my childhood was not normal and it was filled with some of the cruelest, darkest things someone can go through regardless of age.

So, here’s what happened. My paternal grandparents died, my parents got a divorce, I was sexually abused at 8-years old by a 13-year old, and I was bullied in school. While Pluto was transiting my 1st house, I developed self-destructive behaviors and I really hated myself and wanted to die. When I was 10, a psychiatrist diagnosed me with depression.

After Pluto made the official transition into Capricorn, I was no longer the same person. I became more quiet, more secretive, more private, and I was a deeply wounded and traumatized teenager. I’m not even sure what the themes of Pluto in Sagittarius are, because the Scorpio themes were far more dominant than the sign where Pluto was placed during the transit.

At the end of 6th grade, I decided I want to be a writer. Around this rough time period, Pluto was making a trine to my Mercury in Aries. Since Mercury is the ruler of my Midheaven and Sagittarius rules my 2nd house, this decision likely tied more into Pluto being in Sagittarius rather than in Scorpio. So, there’s this, at least, and wanting to be a writer isn’t as dark as the rest of the transit was. It’s definitely not a stable career path to be on though.

Maybe someone can clarify how this transit would affect someone with a natal 1st house Pluto?

Still in it, by whole sign houses, for another few years. Was conjunct my ASC early last year. A lot of clarity for me about work, for some reason

It literally was exactly on my ascendant when I got married. A big change in my life 😉

was first in conjunction with asc at a time i attribute to “my first taste of getting high on life,” then moved on around the time i attribute my “slippery slope into adolescent hell,” pretty edgy-sounding, i know, but by my mid-teens , i wound up in such an early life crisis that i’d made peace with the idea that i wouldn’t live past my 20s to see my quarter life crisis. through a sequence of transformational yet treasured circumstances and developments, i had that illusion overturned and sorta awakened to see the world with new eyes. it affected me so poignantly that i’d imagine i’ll chase after the afterimage of the all-encompassing light i’d struck gold on in the depths of rock bottom as much as and for as long as i can in this life.

transit’s still ongoing, and i still have more “death, judgement, and transformation” to undergo in regards to the 1st house themes of persona and identity, attitude and approach, impressions and appearances inevitably, but i really hold that rebirth and the rollercoaster leading up to and following it close to my heart and my 1st house self.

i can really only speak for myself, but it’s one turbulent yet transformational rollercoaster, if nothing else. if you’re going through it, my sincere condolences and best wishes. it’s painfully intense, but immensely rewarding if you take the distant wanderer’s lessons and wisdoms within yourself.

How do we know when Pluto goes through our first house?
