I’m trying to get back into tarot after a pretty long break and I’m making some crib notes on the meanings of each card. I’m sure I read somewhere that the Three of Cups *specifically* is sometimes interpreted as a “Yes” answer to a question, but researching now I can’t find anywhere that describes it in any stronger terms than ‘a likely positive’ – as in, if you’re asking for a yes or no answer, it’s one of many cards that are in the ‘yes’ category rather than the ‘no’ category.

Has anyone else heard this interpretation, or have I made it up entirely? (Or assigned it to the wrong card!)

Personally, I don’t tend to pull cards for yes/no as I have a pendulum for that. If I had to say, I’d consider it a yes on its own. But..

The three of cups can be positive or negative. I’ve seen it come up in a reading in which it ment there was a third person interfering in the relationship. It can also mean celebrations, union and all that… So it really depends on the reading and cards around it!

I don’t think ANY card can be exclusively yes or no. It really depends on context. If you ask “Should i move the plants to a shadier area” then the Sun probably means no. 🙂

I think the 9 of cups is usually referred to as a yes card

To me the way the card is oriented determines whether or not it is a yes or no. I have used the 6 card yes or no spread with accurate results for years.
