NicolinaParticipantHello everyone! For one of my college courses I need to make a persuasive speech about anything I want. I want to make mine about why you shouldn’t be skeptical of mediumship/ psychic abilities. I know I could just share my experiences and how I communicate, but I’m curious to see if anyone has any sources they could link for me on evidence. The internet is just flooded with skepticism.

GuestNovember 8, 2021 at 12:19 amI think you need to change your core topic “Why you shouldn’t be skeptical of mediumship/psychic abilities”. I am a Psychic and Medium and I actually encourage people to be skeptical (to a healthy degree of course), because that will help them to apply the information they’ve gotten from me to apply it realisticly to their own life.
I would advice you to change your topic to something like “Why you should be open-minded to mediumship/psychic abilities”. It will also give you more space to write on different levels and from different perspectives.
I think that it would be great if you start your paper about your own experiences first. Then I would advice you to interview others about their experiences. Also ask people that do not believe in it, why they don’t. Write that down and then tell them your perspective. Then ask them the same question again and take a look if they became more open-minded. This you can use to validate and confirm your own perspectives within your paper. Also compare your own experiences with others and see what overlaps. What overlaps can be considered to be the “collective truth”, because more people are experiencing it, which would mean that there is some truth to mediumship/psychic abilities.
Because if you are going to look at it realisticly. There is either some truth in it or we are all crazy and paranoid. I would say that everybody being paranoid sounds paranoid in itself lol.

GuestNovember 8, 2021 at 12:19 amWhy would you try to convince anyone not to be skeptical of mediums? Healthy skepticism prevents sitters from becoming the victims of fraud. Not everyone who says that they are a medium is telling the truth. I would not make a persuasive argument that encourages people to not be cautious.
Perhaps choose a different subject for your Argument/Evidence talk, or refer to the evidence gathered by the Windbridge Institute, ( for one), and discuss the possibility that some readings are valid according to the previously gathered research?
Using statistics to make your argument, is always the best way to go. Also, know your professor. Know your audience. I once got a C+ at Uni for defending George Gordon, Lord Byron. He was the Byronic hero. No matter.
The professor can do whatever they want to do with your grade. Know that. That C+ still makes me mad.
