    Hey there!

I do some readings from time to time; mainly with playing cards, but I have my tarot deck as well. From what I’ve noticed, however, it’s difficult for me to read for myself, so I’ve asked someone else to do it for me. It was a ‘psychic’ whom I don’t know personally, just a man with some good reviews.

The guy surprised me with his approach to tarot, since it was different from what I knew (believed?) and learned through the years.

He looked at the cards and stated that ‘this’ and ‘that’ will happen for sure and I can’t help it but to accept my failure/-s about 10 years ahead – and it was incredibly detailed. I mean, sure it might be possible, but does tarot have such power? It seemed as if I couldn’t do literally anything about my fate.

What might be the purpose of tarot readings in that case? What do you think?

I’d personally be a bit leary. The whole purpose of tarot, to me at least, is to get a glimpse into what /could/ be given how things are now. The great thing about that perspective is you can always change things now, for the most part, directly influencing your future outcome (this is also why people reference some readings may not “come true” because you have the power of change and influence). Someone going on about definitives makes me raise a brow a bit.
Honestly I would go with your gut. What do you feel is right and wrong with the interpretation? What do you feel you have the direct influence to change? It takes on the power you give it. The future isn’t set in stone, and even a psychic would typically tell you that.
If you want others to read you, maybe find a different psychic or pay a tarot reader, or do a reading exchange with someone or find someone who offers a free reading. I’d just be cautious with anyone who says things for definite. MAJOR side-eye there, ya know?

Did he tell you that you or your family was cursed? Cause, uh, it sounds like an old school scam.

I totally believe and practice predictive reading, but *nothing* is definitive. If a reader sees a shady potential, they *should* be asking for advice on what you can do to avoid or overcome those potentials. The entire point of a tarot reading is to make you feel empowered about your life, not helpless.
