How do I know what my true ability is?

Has anyone struggled with identifying what their specific ability is or what it is called? The goal is to pursue that ability further and more deeply, but how can I study outside of myself if I don’t quite know what it is? I’ve had a hard time, wanting validation in a sense (though I’m not sure that’s healthy or fitting). It’s as if the language that limits us all is holding me back because I can’t quite understand without the precise term or label. I’ve even considered asking other mediums and psychics to get a better idea but there are so many who aren’t truly altruistic and actually gifted that I hesitate to go ask a single individual of their opinion, and for money nonetheless. Has anyone else experienced this conflict and if so how did you resolve it or find your true gift and see it through to the fullest?
