I’m quite new to this and not a medium myself, so I’m trying to wrap my head round how tarot works. Can someone give me a bit of insight, cheers.

Tarot is a language, and when you look at the entire alphabet(each card) it has everything needed to describe the broad overarching categories of human experience, and when combined in various arrangements it can spell out various possible circumstances.

Your “unconscious” mind or your higher self or whatever you choose to call it, is then able to use that symbolic language to weave to you a story.

Even if a spread isn’t literally predicting the future, it could still have value in that it provokes and allows you to look at the situation from a different perspective than you likely would have just sitting around.

I sat with each card, imbued it with the intention/ emotion/ definition I associated with it. I feel they are tools to discern the intuitive reading of the requestor. I pick up on their emotions or ask their guides/ higher self to give input and feeling that energy on a subconscious level, I’m lead to choosing the right cards. It, if they cut the deck/ choose cards, i feel the similar energies help them make that choice. A lot of times, the cards can have multiple meanings depending on context. So, it still requires the ability to put it all together.

I do tarot differently than pretty much anyone I’ve heard of, but I use them to commune with spirits most of the time. I don’t cut, but just shuffle through until one feels right and I pull it. I place it according to feel too. Works really well for me, but you have to be in tune.

It is one of the many ways to take a snapshot of the timeline.

I wanna go on a rambling about time being non linear. But it would detract from the simplicity of the answer.
