I’ve been wearing a veil since December, usually in a tichel or hijab style. It helps me protect my energy from other people. It’s been working wonders in my highly stressful job. It also makes nature walks especially amazing when I have the privacy to remove it and feel the energy.
I notice that people are asking more questions now, probably because it’s starting to warm up where I live and I’m still wearing long sleeves and a veil. I’m also the only veiled woman within a 50 mile radius. My coworkers, friends, and family know that I’m a witch but I don’t feel comfortable telling others because people will assume I eat babies or worship Satan. My boss has already given me a hard time about being a witch, asking if I was going to make a human sacrifice during my Beltane trip. I had to go over him to even get that time off.
When most people ask about why I wear the veil, I say it’s for religious reasons and they don’t ask any more questions. If they ask more, then I normally say I’m spiritual and the veil serves as a reminder. If they ask for more details then I don’t know what to say. I know that I’m signing up for this and for the most part, people have been more curious than malicious. I’m wondering if any other veiled witches have experience answering questions about their veil without revealing that they’re a witch?
