I want to look into basic witchcraft to help with protection but is there any other way witchcraft can be useful for mediums? What are ways you use the art to help you with your mediumship?

Crystals, drinking moon water, spell jars for perception/protection, general enchantment, and guided meditations all helped me develop my Clairs.

Im a witch! I blend mediumship and witchcraft together.

I like sigils. They work for me. And I use a different method I learned from a book, not the chaos magick way.

Witchcraft connects me to nature and the spirit that resides in nature. It grounds me and helps me stay sane and calm.

The practices you learn in spell work can be applicable to directing your will (or focus) for other things in spirit work. Witchcraft at it’s base is about cultivating power and finding ways to channel your will.

Some who work with witchcraft use it as a means to connect them with nature, to work *with nature*. Nature can be both kind and cruel. So it depends on how you want to work with nature. It’s not automatically “only for good/only for either” it depends on the path someone wants to walk down.

I agree with the other person you can used witchcraft as a means to connect you with ancestors. Many witches I know will call on their ancestors as guides or for more powerful workings. The ways in which you want to incorporate anything into your practice is pretty much endless.

The first spell my mother taught me was a banish negativity or send back negativity. Take a black candle and place it in front of a mirror ( round mirror preferably). Then take a white candle and place it across from the black candle but not so it reflects in the mirror. Light them both and say 3 times
Back, black, I send it back
I send all negative energy back, back, back to its source.

End it with so mote be.

    Do that about three days.

Sigils, crystals, herbal protection spells, protection serums & oils, divination (very occasionally)

Seems like most of us dabble for extra protection.

I’m still learning so I don’t engage in a huge variety just yet. The more I learn & practice, the more I will begin to incorporate it into different aspects of my life.

I’ve started to learn elemental magick.

I’ve also made moon water and crystal infused water charged in the sun once or twice.

If you drink moon water don’t overdo it otherwise you’ll get spaced out.😜

The various traditional practitioners labeled “witches” are all psychic workers to one degree or another. It’s the same with shamans and my personal definition for “shaman” is “medium, but ethnic.”

What particular tradition are you thinking about getting into?

Bless your heart. Witches don’t dabble. Christians don’t dabble. Insert any belief system. Before you begin a lifestyle, study it, with respect.

I mean some say that working with the dead is part of witchcraft, so I guess I look at it the other way around. Maybe some practices like developing your spiritual team would help you? Like guides and stuff, maybe ancestors. Maybe an ancestor altar?

Because of how I was raised, mediumship and witchcraft aren’t separate things. For me, working / communicating with spirits is a part of my witchcraft-ery 🤔

Protection is a very important aspect of being a medium and I definitely use witchcraft to supplement my daily ground-center-shield practice. I use cat fur/whiskers, black salt, FL water, herbs, runes, sigils, local mountain water, spells, prayers… I use what I need in the moment to protect myself, my kitty and my home

I use personally crafted quick & dirty spells often in my mediumship to help establish specific connections to spirits, direct spirits, attract or repel spirits, etc

To not dabble with witchcraft or the occult is to some extent a waste of your talents. There is so much more you can learn from demonic and angelic spirits as well as magick

Do you “dabble” with Judaism, Christianity or any other religion? My friends who are Wiccan don’t dabble. They’re serious about their faith as well.
