I remember in my keyword post that a few people didn’t know how to make a ward, so I’m sharing with you all how I make wards. Feel free to tweak this recipe all you like, this is what works for me though.

\#1. Find what you’d like to be your ward. This can be a piece of jewelry, a large talisman, a statue, a rock, you could probably even do a shirt if you want. Just make sure it suits your needs. If it’s for traveling, it should be light and able to be packed in a purse or pocket, if it’s for guarding your home, it should be movable (So if you move you can take it with you) but sturdy and I suggest heavy, so it doesn’t get buried, blown away, moved or stolen by a wild animal.

\#2. Get your supplies. This includes an offering, I use rosemary as an offering, as well as moon water (You can burn a candle with Algiz carved into it as well); a quiet space where you can meditate; and finally (Also optionally) moon water, or something to wash it with if it’s waterproof.

\#3. Take your items and bring them were you’ll be meditating, preferably where it will sit. I used a statue of a bunny that goes outside. Sit with your item and give it the offering, this can be sprinkled on the ward, around the ward, in a dish in front of your ward, anything like that. Then begin your meditation, imagine the ward protecting what it’s supposed to be protecting, focus only on that. Do this for as long as you can, preferably at least five minutes.

\#4. When you are done, speak to your ward, saying “Your job is to protect \[Whatever it’s supposed to protect\]. You are strong.” I like to breathe on it, to give it a symbolic “Breath of life” and finally, you set it where you want it. If this is outside like mine is, write the protection rune Algiz in the dirt underneath it, or a sigil if you do not include the runes in your practice.

\#5. Now you’re done! Usually I feel tired and completed after this ritual, but I do suggest finding time to give your ward offerings fairly often (At least once a month) To show your gratitude for it protecting you. I do this by washing the statue with moon water, laying rosemary in front of it, planting a rosemary plant in her space to draw energy from, watering the plants that she guards, feeding my real life bunnies to symbolically feed her, and drawing sigils around her in the dirt for land blessings and for her own protection. This statue is almost an entity to me, so I treat her very well. I find that she returns the kindness and brings the land plenty of protection.

I hope that my post was helpful to you! If you’d like to add to my post, let me know in the comments so that others may read and take advice. Thank you for reading, have a nice day!

I also have a house guardian, and I’m planning to add another- a Slavic folk doll I got from etsy that is for home protection (they have dolls for everything and they are precious).

Other wards I like to do is drawing a protective symbol on every window with charged water. I have also turned my plants into herbs through the use of sigils.

I really want to nail a railroad nail or coffin nail into each corner of my property as these are older style wards to protect your home (iron is very protective). I just need to get the nails!

And so, I have mentioned colors before when referring to candles, but it applies here as well.

4 pieces of white crystal. Plain old white quartz works great. Note, I said “White”, not “Clear”. Place them together and enchant them to be protective if you want to add to their innate energies. But you can use them “raw”, and they still work well. Put them all in your hands, or a small bowl, and walk once around your property with them widdershins. See them as casting a blazing white light in all directions, and like roaches when you turn on the light, all negative entities will be most displeased, and take off. Then, starting in the North, walk deosil around the place. Put the North stone down first, then one in each direction. Those are the expressive wards that drive what you don’t want away.

But what about what might already be there, or slips inside this circle somehow?

Black crystal/stone ward. It absorbs and destroys baneful or negative energies. Tourmaline or obsidian are the 2 most used for this. But there are others you could research. I also like shungite, but unlike the other 2, it is sort of a filter for crud, and needs to be cleansed every so often. Not the others. They don’t get used up. Think of a black hole in space/time. What falls in is stuck inside forever. Place it inside, as close to the center of your house as possible.

If you can’t ward the whole property, do this for the inside of your house/apartment. Or at least your bedroom and ritual room.

    Stay safe out there. BB.
