A while back I bought a bunch of packets of native wildflower seeds and made them into seed paper. I write my spells on it with black walnut ink and then bury them.

it’s nice to take walks and see my spells blooming 🙂

Ok but putting an offering/spell in a ball of ice or wrapped like sticky rice inside of a leaf is just /calling/ to me now….

And people tend to open mysterious jars that they find in the water and puzzle over the contents. Decomposition seems like a much more dignified and magical end for a spell than some dude opening a jar and posting the contents on r/foundpaper. Dust to dust, leave no trace

Also something to keep in mind is salt usage in the environment.

I saw a spell that involved burying salt at the base of a tree. What a way to have a vengeful nymph come after you.

Write intentions or small spells on bay leaves and burn them. This is a tradition from many backgrounds and it smells great!

I used to live near a well-known ancient stone circle (not stonehenge, there are many others) and every time I went there I had to spent a lot of time cleaning it up. Not just ordinary litter from the tourists like cans, cigarette butts, food wrappers, general rubbish.

Also, glass beads and “crystals” jammed into the cracks and crevices of the great stones. Candle scraps and burnt insence marks on the altar stone, numerous dug-up places where jars and the like were buried. One time even glitter writing on the stones.

I didn’t touch the little bundles of herbs or flowers, offerings of seeds and nuts (the birds took care of that), sometimes people left bunting-like clootie strips fastened to the rocks – often actually made of plastic.

Don’t even get me started on finding chunks of the stones chipped off and taken as souvenirs!

It was sad because those things were left by people who loved and valued the place but didn’t think about the harm they were doing.

Seeds are also a great vehicle for spells. Toss some wildflower seeds into a field or bury some sunflower seeds. Bonus points for guerilla spell gardening.

One of my favorite beach banishing spells is so simple and natural. Find a piece of driftwood and carve the word of what you want out of your life. Negativity? A certain person? A bad habit? Just carve it in and then YEET that thing into the ocean as far away as you can. I like to toss the stick after counting the third wave to crash on the shore.

After you just take a nice walk on the beach (in a direction opposite of the tide, so whatever you banished doesn’t come back to you). Pick up some trash, find some shells for beach protection magic. Do whatever. Enjoy yourself.

Part of what drew me to the craft was wanting to honor nature. I became pretty disappointed to see how many witches encourage littering. I’ll definitely be doing some of the things suggested here!

One thing I have been doing is drawing sigils on rocks with chalk or softer rocks. After a good rain, I can redraw them to recharge.

Onion skin works very well for writing smallish things on, if you’re delicate.

As someone who lives in a coastal city and often cleans up beaches, YES PLEASE!!!

People need to just stop throwing things into the ocean, and any other body of water. Apart from the polluting/littering, please take into consideration all the poor animals this effects!
