I lost my best buddy last night. He was roughly 15. We adopted him when I was going through a tough time in my life. He considered himself my daughter’s protector who was very little when we took him home. He was a sweet & knowing soul. Different than our other cats. We had a bond that I can’t really explain. He managed to survive several illnesses in his time but a several year struggle with a lung condition finally made it so he was struggling too much. I was worried he would die a horrible suffocation eventually, he wasn’t eating properly anymore so we made the sad decision to euthanize. I spent the last few days by his side. My wife stayed home with him on the days I couldn’t be there and he got to spend time with my daughters who both loved him very much. I’m so overwhelmed with sadness and I just am so hopeful that one day I will at least feel his presence again or possibly see him again…maybe through some sort of reincarnation. I don’t know. I’m not sure how much I believe but I am open minded to the existence of the sprit world. I hope he knows how much he was loved. He was my best friend.
