Forums Forums Magic, Witchcraft and Healing I never liked the “everyone is beautiful movement “ because that’s just impossible. We all should learn to respect ourselves and others, regardless how we all look and are.

Yes thank you. The “you’re beautiful” bit gets so old. No, I’m not. And that’s ok. I don’t have to be beautiful. And people can be good and kind and worthy without being beautiful.

If anything it’s kind of insulting for people to cram “you’re beautiful no matter what “ down our throats all the time.

This is something I’ve had to deal with for such a long time

I’m trans femme and due to serious genetic defect on my lungs, any unnecessary surgery is out. So not transition

I’m overweight and while I think I have stunning eyes and a decent face, I was tired of having to lie to myself. I don’t like much how I look

But if I said that I’d get the positivity monitors in my grill telling me how vital it is to see how pretty I am

Just stop. I don’t feel it some times. But here’s the key. I am totally fine with that! I like who I am even though I don’t care much for the mirror.

Love me for who I am because I will tel you one thing I’m confident about

    I am amazing inside.

I like to think of it as the balance of the universe. For some who look a certain way, others have power, intelligence, and other incredible qualities. This is why I love the scary old woman trope. She lives down the road, alone, all those animals. Of course! She’s a wonderful witch that the forest creatures and stray cats can rely on. Honestly, it’s my goal in life. Looks are fleeting, knowledge and power are forever.

I agree with this. But I am also on the ace spectrum, so physical attraction has never really been a thing for me anyhow.

Body neutrality… this is what I’m talking about! Do I miss my abs from pre lock down? Yes! But that doesn’t make me hate my tummy or think it’s rounded state is beautiful. It just is. It’s my body and that’s fine.

As a guy with gynecomastia it’s taken a long time for me to accept that area of my body as natural

I’m a people pleaser and lifelong learner. I work hard and over achieve at work and college, I put a lot into my relationship with my baby and partner. I also stress eat. My skin looks like it’s very angry at the amount of caffeine and sugar I pump into it daily to keep going, and I don’t blame it. But I’m functional and loved, and loving. Am I a stunner? No and that’s ok right now. I’m already taking steps to reduce my stress level (ending job, therapy etc), but things don’t change overnight.

I agree. Being beautiful is such a conventional thing imo and I dislike that about it. That’s why I’m glad I’m not beautiful by their standards.

I’m not part of any movement, I just think everyone is beautiful on a personal level.

Edit: *except those partaking in heinous acts.

It’s 2021. Why are we still talking about appearances???

I love this sub more and more every time I come here.

This made my brain screech to a stop and think for a minute. If I can just get to being neutral about the fact that my body exists, in it’s current state, without any excuses regarding it, I think I’ll consider myself healed.aybe not 100% but enough.

Ya know, this thread has made me reconsider some things. Why am I wasting energy being depressed over the superficial appearance of my ambulatory meat suit? Fuck that noise. Ain’t got the time. It is what it is; everything still works fine, so what’s the problem?

I’ve always tried not to judge people by their appearance. The small print there is that if they are bleeding, limping, or otherwise look to be in distress, I may treat them differently (hopefully it’s perceived in a good or helpful way.)

As far as their permanent attributes (such as skin, first language, place of origin, etc.) or temporary attributes (such as weight, age, etc.) I do my best not to let those things affect my actions and thoughts.

I keep my subconscious biases in check and personal attributes (such as age, nationality, sexual orientation, etc.) that may at times skew my perceptions.

If I ever doubt myself about what I’m thinking about someone or interacting with them I’ll ask myself if what I know or think about them makes them any less human. The answer is always no.
