I remember dying.

I have a very strange memory that I haven’t fully been able to understand. I remember being very cold and I think my mother trying to lead me towards something bright and warm. There was a part where we fell down in the snow and I saw us lying there, huddled together. The next memory is being a small child in a hospital bed.

I was sick as a child (I was hospitalized with pneumonia for almost two weeks at 18 months) but this feels different.

I had massive neck surgery a bit over a year ago. I didn’t really have time to process how close i was to death/ paralysis. Waking up from anesthesia was trippy af. My throat burned from the breathing tube, and the nurse next to me would bump me/shake me to breathe. Otherwise. Not breathing/dying was the most pleasant feeling in the world.
