I’ve been feeling really pulled towards drawing and sketching poofy little cats and kittens for the past week or so. I usually draw people or botanicals. I’m no artist, but it’s a hobby. I put on some lofi music and sketch in the evenings. It’s relaxing and meditative for me. I ended up with pages and pages of kitten sketches that seemed to just jump so easily onto the page.
Well. I may have put too much intention into it, because yesterday my husband calls me at work to tell me a kitten walked up and sat on our porch. He caught it and brought it in. It’s quite small, maybe 6-8 weeks old but seems totally healthy for a stray. No fleas, no goopy eyes or nose, ears look clean. It’s very friendly as well. I think it’s a girl, but not sure. It’s definitely kitten season, but we’ve never encountered strays in our neighborhood before, and certainly not sitting on our front steps.
We have quite a few cats already, and we definitely don’t need another, but I find myself really wanting to keep it. He’s going to call the humane society when they open this afternoon and see if they can take it. I told him if they can’t, we’re keeping it. ❤️

I was thinking about this last night actually. I think out of all the people that have a cat, more than half of them were assigned to a cat rather than actually intentionally getting one. Cats follow you home, cats show up on your porch, cats ask you for help. That’s how I ended up with most of my cats throughout my life, and how most of my friends got them.

It’s possible cuz a few days after I read a kitten book to my niece and nephew my mom found a new born kitty that was grey but it passed after a week. 😭I did decide to adopt a kitten from the shelter and she’s lying next to me. 🙏🏼

Last year I kept feeling like I was about to find a cat who needed help. I had this feeling for weeks. Everywhere I went I was looking for a cat who needed help. Then a kitten showed up at my house who was *very* sick and hurt. I took him in and got him help. I wanted to keep him but I have 3 other cats and they did not get along, so I fostered him for about 9 months then re-homed him. He needed help and I was available to help him. Plz no more kittens, universe. It’s too hard on my heart!

Is this NOT how people get new cats?? 😂 I don’t have any but anyone I knew who has cats, well this is exactly how they got them lol
