I personally have noticed that sag risings tend to have great athletic talent, as well as sun and mars conjuctions. What are some other indicators?

Mars-dominant placements in general tend to be good for athletic talent. This can be Sun/Mars, Aries/Scorpio placements, 1H/10H Mars, and even 12H Mars.

For the 12H Mars, I remember reading a lecture from Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas where they said that the 12H is where things are sacrificed to the collective, so a 12H Mars is someone who sacrifices their physicality to society (playing sports).

I’d have to find the data that backs that up but I know it’s out there somewhere.

In one of her weekly podcasts, Anne Ortelee, whom I find to be quite a good astrologer, gave an answer. She said that her sister, who was the coach of a women’s soccer team somewhere in the EU, would always send her birth data before hiring players, so that Anne could cast their charts. Anyway, Anne said that having Mars and Pluto conjunct was the mark of a good athlete, and she always recommended that her sister hire people with that aspect.

I think in a subsequent podcast she said that other Mars-Pluto aspects were also positive for athletics, but I don’t recall if she specified which aspects or it was just any aspect.

I have Mars in Aquarius square Jupiter in Scorpio which is apparently a good placement for athletes because it represents stimulating/motivating connection between physical strength and intellect/the mind. I wouldn’t consider myself an “athlete” per se as I have found sports personally very boring since childhood, but I definitely enjoy physical activities that require mental focus and connection, like yoga, skiing, surfing, and paddle boarding and picking up all of those activities was super easy and natural for me without much instruction, so I do think that interpretation of that placement is accurate. I also have Jupiter trine my MC which generally indicates pursuit of greatness, so while not specifically related to athleticism, it would be a solid placement for someone determined to become a pro.

Mars in Aries or Capricorn, Mars conjunct the midheaven, Mars in the 10th house or 5th house, or even Mars in the 6th (planetary joy of Mars) I could see indicating a great athlete. Really any well aspected or dignified Mars

I’d say 6th for indicating a preference for schemes and discipline.

Also Mars in a fire sign/house indicating energy being directed at expressing individuality, breaking barriers to a higher level of expression.

Positive to aspects to ASC and Sun for good health and appearance.

    Just my theory….

I have looked at many charts for boxers cancer (tyson, dempsey, vitali) and capricorn suns ( foreman, ali, frazier, roy jones, usyk ) have been the best and have produced the best champions of all time, but you have a lot of great champions in all other signs too. Mars sign alone doesn’t seem to matter but the ones with mars pluto aspects seem to really enjoy fighting, the square and conjunction seems to bring sadistic tendencies to the ring. Most fighters have mars and other planet aspects and rarely do you have a fighter with less than 2. And you usually see mars aspect to the north node, mc or/and chiron. The houses don’t seem to matter either and what’s in them.

Sag suns and Sag Risings for sure. I follow cycling, for instance, and I noticed how many Grand Tour winners (Tour de france, Tour of Italy, Tour of Spain) are Sun sags: Nov 24, Nov 28, 30, Dec 2, Dec 12. There’s a whole cluster of them in Sag.

Some of the greatest ever in tennis Novak, Nadal, Bjorn Borg, Steffi Graf are Geminis.
George Best, one of the greatest football players ever.

Jim Thorpe, voted the greatest athlete of all time but was stripped of his Olympic medals, a truly heartbreaking story.

Paavo Nurmi who was not allowed to run 10000m because they wanted someone else to win and also maybe it was unfair to win so much within the same day. He still ran in a practice track with a better timing than the winner.

Eric Arthur Hayden is a Gemini, he won an unprecedented five individual gold medals and set four Olympic world records in Speed Skating.

Mars first house Sagittarius. Very ambitious, and the first house is about self. And when you have that Mars there in fire it indicates power
