I’ve worked in the food and beverage industry 20 years and I was schooled today by the best of us.
I’m a GM and I run a fast casual chain with all female leaders. We pride ourselves on it. I built this work culture from nothing. I’m anticapitalist but don’t we all need to survive?
I got handed an assistant GM. This woman has blown me away from day 1. I loved and nurtured her to take care of my kids at work. Well she does now and I mostly sit back. She happily and loyally runs the op. I provide development and help.
She applied to move into a role to run her own store. She was only offered 7k more a year. 2k more than me her mentor. Offered a position a state away and with a manager she doesn’t mesh with. An unknown team and probably a mess. They gave her 3 days to move.
Now me. I take the ring. She turned them down and I get and respect the decision so much.
Shout out to D putting her values first and standing up for what’s right. They move people like pawns constantly.
