It’s totally fine and in some sense better. And you might find people wanting one themselves.

    Go for it!

Not to put you off making your own deck (which is a really cool project), but I did find a few results by googling / looking on Etsy – can you not find anything at all, or just not what you want?

    For example:

The upcoming “Botanica” deck: [https://beehivebooks.com/shop/pre-order-botanica-herbalist-edition](https://beehivebooks.com/shop/pre-order-botanica-herbalist-edition) (there are a few options on the site, but also check carefully, I could swear there was an issue with one of their pentacles cards)

    Tarot of Trees: [https://www.tarotoftrees.com/](https://www.tarotoftrees.com/)

    Terra: [https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/833646084/terra-botanical-tarot-deck-full-78-card](https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/833646084/terra-botanical-tarot-deck-full-78-card)

    Various nature-themed: [http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/nature.shtml](http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/nature.shtml)

    Why would it be bad?

Have you looked here for plant decks? http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/herb-plant.shtml

I’m an artist and even though I find an endless amount of beautiful decks that speak to me, the more I get intuned to the language of Tarot, the more I feel creative energy wanting to be expressed through a deck.

It will also likely to help you find an intimate connection to the imagery that may not be possible to find in someone else’s art.

Do it, and if you think others would like it, do a Kickstarter and sell it.

Try it!! However it is a very big project especially if you want a detailed full color illustration for them all.

The Herbal Tarot Deck by Michael Tierra is beautiful imo , very colorful and simplistic and if you are a beginner I don’t think it’d be hard to learn from

Things related to Tarot are not “Bad” or “Good” they just simply are. If you are making your own Tarot because you want the ability to create your own narrative, you may find that as a result, you have a deck that is less likely to give you an objective look at things. It will be heavily skewed towards your intent. This may be great for self work, goal manifestation and as a self help tool, but may not work as well reading for others.

If you are a highly creative artist, with a deep desire to explore the archetypal imagery through the expression of your art, you may come up with a beautiful deck that reads well for yourself and others. If you are just looking for a way to have something without paying for it, you are starting your tarot journey from a position of weakness. You are saying you want to do this without actually investing anything o to the process. That can trivialize your commitment to the journey which will affect your readings.

If you are committed but can only get a deck by making one yourself and are willing to put the time and effort into crafting a tool for that process, it should be fine. Tarot is about intent. Good intentions = good practice.

“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” but that doesn’t mean that you will be free of downstream repercussions to your actions. What you set in motion by your intention will guide the result.
