In your individual experience(s), can you find that you’re able to perceive other realms beyond the physical at this time of year? I’ve heard that saying a lot that the veil is thinner leading up to Halloween, but I wonder how true it is versus whether people with extra sight feel that way because they’ve heard about it so much.

In my personal experience the veil is thinner between Christmas and the new year. The past few years I had precognitive dreams around this time that came true the months after

I personally haven’t felt close to other realms these past few weeks but that being said, others might have experienced it differently of course!

There are numerous natural cycles that occur throughout the year, Halloween (Samhain) is just one of those cycles. During this time of year I get more sensitive, see things I don’t normally see and get an overall sense that things have thinned out. Of course humans for centuries have created cultural aspects around these cycles and language that helps describe them. Another big one is in February/March (Valentines) which is a purging cycle.

You’ll find that Pagan holidays, even modern ones also happen around these natural cycles as well.

This time of year, most people find themselves going inward, seeking quieter and more peaceful times; therefore they are paying closer attention to what is always there, but is normally ignored.

The more sensitive you are the more likely you are to be aware of these cycles. Likewise the more connected to nature you are, the more likely you are to be aware of them also. Hence why ancient people knew about and celebrated them.

Talking and thinking about spirits, and or other entities, will always bring them closer, so the emphasis on spirits at this time of year is bound to thin the veil.

In my experience, the veil, if you’ll forgive the metaphor, is like a piece of carpet, the areas that are used most often get thinner… I think if you focus on experiences and communicating, you’re wearing that carpet out yourself and you’re more likely to have something happen. The flip side is, it bounces back when you ignore it and spiritual things subside.

I’ve noticed this in my own house. We’ve got at least four non-rent payers… the more attention we pay and the more focus they get the more they do. Sometimes, I’ve just quite literally said, enough for now, I’ve got shit to do and bills to pay, etc. We’ll chat later. The little girl gets insistent sometimes even then though. I literally find myself having to send her “to bed”.

Side note: we confirmed with our landlord, a little girl drowned in the pool a decade ago and that family lived in our apartment.

The shift to more fanciful allowance of beliefs does indeed thin the veil in some people, but only for those who take it seriously. The opposite is true for well grounded individuals. Imagine seeing an otherworldly being when everyone else is in costume, you’re more likely to compliment them on their costume then believe.

I feel yes, I always have and I believe that’s why I like this time of year.

Yes, the weeks surrounding Samhain and Beltane are the thinnest in my experience

And as someone else said, the weeks in the end of the year are also unusually thin
