Forums Forums Magic, Witchcraft and Healing Is this a non-binary friendly sub?

I’m considering joining this sub and I have been starting to interact at little bit. I am non-binary and I recently made a comment on a post kindly encouraging OP to use more gender neutral language, and I got many downvotes on that comment. I did also get supportive replies, but I must ask, is this sub non-binary friendly?

Edit: I am aware this is a woman centered sub, so maybe the correction was unnecessary, but what was most concerning to me is the supportive replies I got were deleted by the mods. The supportive replies were just people suggesting good gender-neutral terms.

I’m non-binary and for the most part I have felt welcome in this sub. However, there are people who will use gendered language and I have to remind myself that the official description of this sub is “woman-centered” and I am not a woman. So it remains that not everything here will be about me or welcoming to me.

There are plenty of kind and accepting people here, but there *are* some who roll their eyes at things like that. Idk why other comments are acting like this is some perfect place and only outsiders ever mess up. It’s a mixed bag, mostly leaning in the right direction (the left). But I definitely won’t say you won’t *ever* run into that shit..I would be doing yall a disservice to say this is a perfectly intersectional place that is always on top of it but I do think it’s the closest you can find on reddit.

As a whole this does strive to be an accepting pace for all and I hope you *always* feel welcome here.

This is the only space I’ve found in all of queerdom that’s welcoming to BOTH trans binary and non-binary people.

    No.

It’s an **EXTREMELY INCREDIBLY ABSOLUTELY LOVING** non-binary friendly sub.

I also get super confused by weird gendered language. Especially when people use he/she or even worse s/he. I wish they’d use they/them. Or stuff like “once you get a partner/spouse” instead of boyfriend or wife.

You are very welcome here <3

First off yes, welcome, and blessed be.

To your point. Gender is baked into Pegan ideology. There is a lot of mother, father, God, goddess in the literature. HOWEVER, the whole point is to do what you will as long as no harm comes to others.

This sub is specifically gendered as Patriatchy traditionally refers to the male ruling class.

That being said anyone of any gender or non gender can be a Partiarch or a revolutionary witch. This is a safe place for anyone who wants a better, witchier, world.

That has not been my experience with this sub, I find WvP very GenderSpectrum friendly.

I would reach out to the Mods to find out more!

As a community this sub is great but like with any large group which ends up on front page, there are a lot of unwanted elements who just lurk and vote.

this is a trans friendly sub, which includes binary and non-binary people.

as for the downvotes, well, mods can’t help with those; there are just a good number of hateful people everywhere on reddit.

but the mods here are great on removing, pretty quickly, any hateful comments.

I really hope that if people refuse to be inclusive that they experience exactly what they put others through. This sub should not tolerate intolerance (and no, that’s not contradictory).

Tbh I’m still questioning my gender and probably always will and the biggest thing that put me off witchcraft was that almost every resource went on and on about vaginas, feminine energy, women being of the earth, blood, etc. There’s a LOT of transphobia in witchy communities as well as really messed up gender roles.

NOT saying that’s what it’s like here… but those types DO hang out here and there ARE people who make weirdly gendered posts like I’m describing.

Again, I hope those types are made to feel as unwelcome as they make others feel if they refuse to be inclusive. This community SHOULD be open to all – just not bigots.

I’m sorry you experienced that here. I would like to think we all strive to be as inclusive as we can, please don’t be put off. The coven here is very welcoming and accepting of all! There are sadly an element who hang around and downvote because they’re jealous of how awesome all the members are! Welcome!

There’s a few who are pushing that language inclusivity will cause us to not accomplish our goals and we need to meet the other side “part way “ ?! But I assure you those are not the majority at all and that’s against our rules to be transphobic or discriminatory to anyone based on gender. I’m non binary and I love it here!
