This is to clarify changes to rules regarding offering readings in r/Mediums. In the past, we allowed free reading offers and limited reading offers in the subreddit.
The subreddit was split into r/Mediums and r/MediumsReadings three years ago. The purpose is to separate readings and reading requests into another sub. Reading requests became so numerous that mediums could not interact due to the sheer volume of requests.
We decided to allow r/Mediums to be reserved for development and learning, education, medium fellowship, and information about mediumship. Of course, information for users was a consideration.
Our original Rule 6 allowed free readings to be offered with some modifications. This is now Rule 4.
We have had so many difficulties with this rule, as it is entangled with r/MediumReadings. We have allowed Mediums to offer free assistance in the sub as it was truly stated as to be free, and the help had no hidden fees, donations, optional donations, and so on. However, we continue to be beset with scammers.
So. In the interest of the spirit of the sub, offers of readings free or otherwise will be moved to r/MediumReadings where they were intended to go. Reading requests belong in r/MediumReadings as always.
Of course, assisting any user with advice and education is one of our primary goals.
We will no longer allow users to advertise readings in the sub, free or otherwise. We wish to reduce scammers and spam.
If a medium wishes to offer free help on a post, that is fine. We will continue to come down on comments such as “dm me,” as they do not state the assistance is free.
Thank you for understanding. We will this will reduce confusion and allow the sub to continue to thrive as the counterpart to r/MediumReadings.
