Forums Forums Astrology “Mother-wound” and patriarchy – what are some other ways of understanding the Hades moon?

In reading about the Hades moon (on this sub and elsewhere), it seems like the idea of the “mother-wound” – whether a traumatised, controlling or withholding mother – resonates with a lot of people. Judy Hall’s book seems especially influential and I’m sure at an individual level this may be for good reason, but it gives me pause, and I wondered if there were other ways of thinking about Pluto-Moon aspects?

Obviously astrology inevitably reflects the cultural context surrounding it, and it feels like these tropes are very commonplace in Western culture – there is something very Freudian about mothering that is conceptualised in terms of excess or deficit, and it seems very possible to conceptualise a feminist critique of this. How does the fact that these aspects are so often understood as related to flawed or insufficient mothering interact with the cultural construction of motherhood as a kind of losing game?

Has anyone written along these lines, or are there more expansive understandings of the significance of the Hades Moon? I’m keen to read any recommendations on this topic.

(Also, just mathematically, how common are Pluto-Moon aspects of whatever kind? There is obviously a kind of self-selection bias that operates in posts on this topic, so I wonder about wider prevalence)
