Fat13CatMemberI’m trying to be better about growing plants, and got some basil. Miracle of miracle I didn’t kill it!! (Yet 😅) Someone told me it’s good for money spells, but I wanted to get everyone’s thoughts here. Do you use basil in your craft?🌱

GuestSeptember 9, 2023 at 2:51 amBasil is one of my favorites! Definitely get Holy Basil for workings of success, protection, and banishing. Lakshmi likes tulsi for good fortune. I keep Thai basil (my brother loved martinis made from it), sweet basil for pesto, genovese for sauce, lemon for desserts and teas, lime for sauces and fish, cinnamon for asian food, african blue for vegetables, lettuce for salads. After you get three forkings, cut at the fourth and it will get fuller. As it gets cooler, bring it inside at night and give it sun during the day so you can extend its life. Check in at r/GreenWitch for more ideas. 🤗🕯🖖

Learning the skills to help it thrive can help you translate those skills to yourself: patience, planning, and adapting.
Let it grow, figure out where you want it to grow, and don’t fight it when it takes a different path but instead encourage it.

GuestSeptember 9, 2023 at 2:51 amNot a witch, but I like to steep herbs we grow in vodka. No one else really likes the taste, but I do. I steep it in mason jars then put a coffee filter in a funnel and strain it into corked liquor bottles I removed the labels from. Only steep it for a week or two, or it gets very bitter. Sometime I use it for cooking; the rosemary vodka is good to splash over turkey burgers.

GuestSeptember 9, 2023 at 2:51 amI use it my pesto. My sauce. My salads, My pizza.
I dry it if I have a large harvest. I freeze it in olive oil.
I had basil and strawberry infused water. Yum!

GuestSeptember 9, 2023 at 2:51 amIf you have a nice large crop, it can be frozen as is and crumbled, or chopped, put in an ice cube tray and topped with olive oil and frozen. Not sure what works better for Craft, but it’s nice to have some of your own in the winter anyway.

I just read that it is sweet basil in one of your comments below. You can make syrups, sauces, jams, whatever with berries and the sweet basil!
