So I have intense fear of death and I want to have a plan about what I can do to make it better. It is the base for my dissociation which is problematic in day to day life, causes anxiety and hinders me from developing my witchcraft skills in areas like astral projection.

I know I need intense and good therapy but that is currently not available, but my dissociation is one of my biggest coping mechanism since I also have to deal with overstimulation since I am neurodivergent.

I already try to face it by learning about multiple concepts of what death itself could mean to find comfort in it but somehow that isn’t enough.
I feel like being able to communicate with the dead would also assist me but that could also be blocked by my dissociation.

I really want to do something but I have no clue where to start. I don’t think that spells on me would work and I doubt that it would be beneficial to take away the main coping mechanism

I used to be so scared of the end, but taking time to sit down and actually talk to yourself about what your idea of the afterlife is can help! Ask for signs/dreams of the after life! Also to accept and welcome the idea that it is natural (knowing and accepting are two different things remember that!). I like to think we (especially us who practice and feel energies and spirit) are so much bigger than just one lifetime in one body! We work with spirit, so it shows that no matter what, we (humans) have purpose beyond the physical. I know it’s hard and it’ll be a journey to heal that fear but let it be and life will be so much more beautiful💚

Following for the comments because I have a similar issue. But my issue is that I don’t believe in any kind of afterlife. I believe when we die we just cease to exist. Which gets me spiraling into an existential crisis when I really try to think about it.

You might consider finding a therapist who works with psychedelics, particularly psilocybin. The experience left me feeling connected to the earth and helped me to see that we never really die. It was life changing for me.

The end truly isn’t the end. It’s just the end of your physical body, your consciousness will go on. So enjoy your time on this earth so after death of your mortal body you won’t live with regrets.

I’d look into using alternative medicine like mushrooms. Psilocybin is being used for relieving end of life fear for patients, PTSD, and depression. Many have found help with their fear of mortality through the controlled use of this medicine. Do your research, and have someone there you can trust to watch after you. Set and setting are the most important factors to ensuring a positive experience. I wish you all the best luck in overcoming this crippling fear ❤

Bit of a weird one maybe but I have found the content on the YouTube channel Ask A Mortician really helpful, especially this video https://youtu.be/3IBsAiDeS4M and this one https://youtu.be/CN7ZD9uw7LQ

Probably not the answer you’re looking for, but I had some anxiety about it when I was younger. Discovering the work of Caitlin Doughty, aka [Ask A Mortician](https://www.youtube.com/c/AskAMortician), really helped. She talks a lot about “the good death”, death acceptance, and even talks about death across different cultures. Basically, I learned to be death positive. Not that I WANT to die, but I’ve accepted that I WILL eventually die, so this is how I want my body treated, this is what to do with my possessions, etc.

I eventually ended up working at a pet crematorium briefly (didn’t do any cremating though). I wrote blogs on grief and death and it was something I could have never done without Caitlin’s videos and books. I like to think I helped someone with my words.

I worked in ambulance and rescue for a time. In the process of that work, I encountered death and saw many people die. It’s an entirely different understanding that I received of death and whilst it was my job to keep people from dying, with all our efforts in that profession death wins more than we can hope. My view of death changed with that job. I saw too much of it and had to quit, not because I became afraid of death, but because I became overwhelmed. I live with a deep and complex PTSD as a reward for the life saving efforts of that job.

The point is that everyone dies. What I fear most is leaving my loved ones with grief and hardship without the resources that my life brings to them. I don’t concern myself with life after death because, whilst I have my ideas along those lines, I’m less self concerned than I am about the people who depend upon me.

How this shapes my practice in the craft is that in the moments of day to day existence the adventure of taking my spell work to deeper spiritual levels is healing the trauma of experiencing so very much death. Focusing not on death and instead breathing in the life that fills up the craft that i am called to do.

Sorry for the length of this. I tend to write novels.

I think if you try Ayahuasca and have a ego death it will definitely help.

have you seen the movie “the discovery”? it made me feel better after watching it. i like the idea of infinite planes of existence, infinite number of lives to live? 😉 existence explained with physics, why not, right? 🙂
the only caveat? you are **you** in all planes of existence throughout all of time, for eternity… (would shed a whole new light on the idea of bettering yourself, right?!?)

Have you ever read Many Lives Many Masters? That book really helped me over come my fear of death. It’s about past life regression therapy. Great book and quick easy read that you won’t be able to put down. It’s based on a true story Dr. and patient

There is a really great Dialectical Behavior Therapy workbook available on Amazon. When I did DBT in therapy, we were going through that workbook, so even if you can’t access therapy right now, going through that book could be helpful.

This is also what some folks call “shadow work.”

Doing magic while your head and body are so very separate and out of alignment with one another probably isn’t a great idea. I would recommend DBT / using that workbook as shadow work, and using the techniques it teaches to help get yourself grounded, and then your next step in your path should become more clear
