I am on mobile so I apologize if the format is strange.

I’m using the Morgan-Greer deck illustrated by Bill Greer

    1. What can you teach me? The Empress- I interpreted this as learning to be more compassionate and further apply my own ideas and what I believe is my purpose.
    2. Describe yourself. The Emperor- I guess my deck is level-headed and reasonable.
    3. Describe me. 4 of pentacles- does my deck believe me to be materialistic? I’ve recently developed a bad habit of shoplifting petty items, is this what it may be referring to?
    4. What are your strengths? Knight of cups- I think my deck can help me realize new opportunities.
    5. What are your weaknesses? 5 of swords- not sure how to interpret this card.
    6. How can we work together? The Star- my deck would like to help me find enlightenment within myself.
    7. What’s our potential together? Queen of cups?- I think we have the potential to gain emotional depth and maturity.

Congrats on your new deck! Some off the cuff thoughts on your spread.

    1. Empress: Your deck is offering abundance. This is a nice signal of goodwill, a warm welcome. Your guides are happy to have this grounded connection to communicate with you. I’m not sure how new you are or how far in your studies, but your spirits guide the shuffle process as you concentrate on your query. They then communicate via intuition as you piece together how the cards create a story. As its never one card to be read at a time, but the whole spread.
    2. Emperor: Deck is asserting authority and a nod to the seriousness of working with it. As a father figure in Tarot, it should be treated with respect and will in return bring security and comfort and provide explanations and solutions, creating order out of chaos.
    3. 4 of Pentacles: Deck may be suggesting you have a tendency to be lead by your ego and are often impatient when you don’t get what you want. Remember, when using the tarot, we don’t ask a question and expect/want the answer we’re looking for. Tarot doesn’t give a definitive answer to a question, but an interpretation, warnings, and guidance on how to move forward. It doesn’t tell us what to do, rather gives us information so we can decide what we want to do. We are always in control of our lives. Have a ‘bad’ or ‘disappointing’ reading? Well then get to it and make those changes!
    4. Knight of cups: The knight is considered an ‘immature’ aspect of the cups suit in that it is ruled by temperamental extremes. On one hand, he can be romantic, on the other overemotional. Sensitive/temperamental, imaginative/fanciful. I honestly think it’s kind of odd to ask the cards their strength and weaknesses. I’ve never done an interview spread, I have always stuck with the Celtic cross because it is clear. I rather think the cards are referring to *your* strengths and weaknesses for questions four and five.
    5. 5 of swords: In my experience with Tarot, when we ask a sideways question, we get a clear kickback. Asking the deck what its weakness is, and its response is 5 of swords, is an indication this happened here. 5 of swords is losing moral compass, creating ill will/conflict, open dishonor and creating an ‘us against them’ mentality. I do think the cards are calling out your incorrect question, as it is a separitist question. Remember, your spirits are communicating to you and have your best interest in mind always. You are them, and the cards are you.
    6. Star: Beautiful card of hope, serenity, wanting to give and share, enjoying harmony. They are happy you are starting the journey with them.
    7. Queen of cups: I don’t think its a matter of gaining emotional maturity *together.* Remember, you’re the student here learning lessons on earth. Your spirits and angels are not. Queen of cups is a deeply psychic woman (or man) who leads with love and emotional integrity. I believe the cards are indicating that you are capable of achieving this kind of energy through your work together.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Also, a tip I have is do not ask Yes or No questions- as the cards are nonlinear and do not have a single depth. You will get an overall read of the situation. And since the cards never tell you what to do, there is not a yes or no answer.

    Hi u/rabbitdentures!

Please read [the rules on spreads](https://www.reddit.com/r/tarot/wiki/rules)– the info is fine, but you still need to add an artist and deck name please!

Five of Swords to me has always indicated an unsatisfying end to a battle or fight. Maybe you “won”, but something or someone was lost along the way that didn’t need to be. What this could suggest is a need to be right or a stubbornness. I hope that can be helpful!
