I’ve recently started researching birth charts and horoscope construction, and I came across something pretty interesting, and I wanted to get the input from the community that has been helping me along this journey. Has anyone heard of/looked into the Barnum Effect? I was wondering if anyone could help me understand it bc just when I thought I was on the right track, BAM!, I come across conflicting information. Thanks in advance!

the barnum effect is what happens when somebody reads a description they believe to be extremely personalized and specific when it actually applies to many, many people.
in the context of astrology, it’s when descriptions of personality seem specific to you but if you take a step back, they actually apply to everybody/everyone feels that way.

I looked at the Barnum effect like yesterday.
Astrology has a lot of Barnum effect moment.For an example: There is no way that everyone born in the sign of Libra are all non judging and outgoing, yet they’d accept those statements because it helps them believe that they are a better person than they really are (and it makes them look good).
Even so, many of the characteristics of my own sign don’t even fit me.
You’d think having many planets on the same one sign makes the effect of the sign itself more dramatic, but it sure isn’t working for me like they claimed.
The descriptions aren’t as accurate and are just too vague for me to accept.
Right now I’m only in astrology for fun, games, and memes. Nothing serious. You can just chill until you believe what they say to the point that it’s important enough FOR YOU to join.
Also, this isn’t a noob question ✌️
