Pendulum Help – Please tell me everything you know and experienced

I only recently found out about pendulums and now I want to make one and try it.
Can I just tie string around a rock/crystal/whatever feels good and use that??
What are some tips on using it?
I know the Yes and No thing, well actually, do I just write it on two sides of the paper and what does going up or down or diagonal mean? Should I establish that in writing it down too?
And Can I also make lists with numbers or dates??
What have you all done and what do you recommend and everything you can think to tell me, I welcome it! Thank you!!!!

I could be wrong but you might have more luck on r/psychic

I wouldn’t really trust a pendulum to contact spirits if I’m honest, it’s too vague and influenced by outside sources.

This is just my opinion however and I don’t use them myself.
