Baby witch here, and I’ve been working on a spell book to keep track over dreams, stones, spells, scents, herbs, and what not. Just something to help document and remember certain things about the witch craft I’m using and doing.

Though I want extra flair and really make it mine and not have it be so much like school notes. I would like inspiration or tips on how to make it not so boring.

    Anything helps!

I like to look at Pinterest and Instagram for relevant doodle ideas! Little drawings always spice it up. I also like adding cute stickers and washi tape to mine. I draw a lot of inspiration from bullet journals too! Hope this helped 🙂

So, I do just use composition books or sketch books that don’t look very special on the outside, but on the inside, I make it more like a scrapbook. I press flowers or plants that I’m working with. I have sketches of my spells/set-ups, correspondences, images that come to me during meditations, tarot card meanings/layouts/interpretations.

I think my tips and inspiration are just to not limit yourself when it comes to visual presentation of information. If you like to paint, sew, bake (thinking of recipe cards here), photograph– see if you can’t incorporate those skills into your journals/notes.

This might be the exception where I recommend looking up “witchy aesthetic” to see what appeals to you visually that you could adopt.

Glue leaves, draw in it, get into embroidery and embellish the cover. Do not focus on keeping it neat and tidy, focus on it being meaningful to you.

i sometimes print out photos of my work and add it into the note book.

my field journal is very much academic in nature. with not just photos, but figure layouts and such.

I’d actually start it like school notes in a cheap notebook because trust me, over the next several decades your going to learn a lot of new info as well as change info you already have. Starting in a notebook is a good idea so that what when you fill it up, and trust me you will, you can transfer to another notebook and rewrite things in a nicer way, take out old info and make any changes you need. Personally I’m on form 4 and its only been about 10 years since I started, I’m still learning new things
