Recently I’ve come across a tid bit of information that says:

If one tries to establish meaningful relationships in the area of life that is represented by the house one’s mercury is situated in, those relationships are doomed to fail.

Thoughts on this? I would really like to open up a discussion as to why that is (or isn’t).
I don’t really have an idea, so I’d like to hear others.

Thank you in advance for chipping in 🙂

There is no basis for this, that I’m aware of.

What’s important is looking at each person’s natal mercury to identify and work to deal with any issues that may be there. Then doing the same in the synastry chart, and any aspects between the two natals that involve mercury.

For example, one person’s mars square the other person’s mercury may be quite difficult to manage, resulting in a lot of bickering and arguing. However, assessing an aspect like that also depends greatly on the conditions of the mars, and of the mercury, separately in their own natal charts.

Ideally, we prefer harmonious aspects involving communication between two people. But little is “ideal”. One just has to assess carefully.

I would say that sounds backwards; Mercury is the planet that shows the bridge between the internal self and the external world, aka the messenger. the house Mercury is in shows where we feel at ease communicating and expressing thoughts, and in any relationship (platonic, familial, romantic, etc), communication is vital.

Mercury in the natal chart, In the signs, moreso than the houses is what you should be looking at. For instance someone with Mercury in Sag will tend to have problems with expressing/communicating without coming off as brash. Someone with Mercury in Aquarius may be much better communicating for themselves and speaking for a community that they belong in, they would to be eloquent and poised compared to my first example.

In Synastry if Mercury square Mercury then please believe arguments can arise but also riotous laughter, lively agreements and strong beliefs that the two can fight the world with. All these and it’s variables depends on other placement within the chart to. Houses would play more of a factor in synastry to course angles and aspects.

Does not apply to Me. My natal mercury is in the 12th house and most of My friends have some sort of relationship with the 12th house- either Astrologers like Myself, therapists, people who work with spirituality, people who deal with psychology, people who are very much invested in personal development, coaching, healing etc etc

Mercury (also my ruling planet)12th house and yeah Im pretty isolated and don’t ha ve any physical friends.. and while it’s sad sometimes I’m content in solitude. It’s like the 12th house. They leave as soon as they come. Not even to do with them ..I just forget and they dissipate like Neptune .

Love to see more written on the IC and the midheaven. I have very few aspects in my chart that are tight enough to be considered, and my only planet conjunct a point is Pluto conjunct IC, so it opposes my Midheaven and squares my Asc. and Dsc. This placement has a really huge effect on me and I wish I could find more resources about it.

I’d love to find info about how the north node interacts with the ascendant, or if this means anything at all. My north node conjuncts my ascendant and I’d love to know what this means, there’s no info about this online. More info on the 12H would be lovely, I feel like most people don’t quite know how to describe the 12H and there’s a lot of conflicting info. I found a beautiful book about it at some point that I wish I remembered the name of right now.
