    Hi!

I’m going to preface this by saying I myself do not practice. But my best friend and roommate does, and I’m doing Christmas shopping for her. And one of her patrons (?) is the Greek Goddess Circe, of magic. Who I’ve been led to believe is known for her knowledge of potions and herbs. So I figure: what better gift, right? But.

I’m not sure how to incorporate fresh herbs into one’s practice. I’ve only ever witnessed the usage of dried herbs. And was hoping that this reddit could give me some pointers / advice so I know what to look for and if I’m gonna do it correctly?

Furthermore, if you guys have any further knowledge about Circe herself or even advice or suggestions? Or maybe if you feel like this is an inappropriate gift? That’s great! Any help I can get from people who legitimately practice, the better. Thank you so much!

When I use fresh, I either use less, or dry it myself. The only thing fresh picked doesnt work too well for is burning. That is definitely better dried. In potions, a good mortar and pestle come in handy for grinding the fresh ones.

Sometimes it’s good to get the whole lifecycle of the plant and follow it through. Grow the plant and nourish with power then when it dries and you use it, it holds more power. I personally find the life cycle important. Perhaps your friend would enjoy the process of growth, nurture and drying?
