Is it normal to begin a spell but let it continue to burn until extinguished without meditating/ watching intently the entire time? I’m practicing correct fire safety, but just don’t normally sit for an entire 40 minutes while the candle burns

Spells often suggest you let a candle burn until it’s out but that doesn’t require sitting and watching it the whole time. If it’s not safe for you to do then just blow it out. I’m sure the god/goddess will understand. I never let mine burn because my altar is low to the ground and I have cats that like to climb everywhere.

If a recipe says to bake it for an hour, 30 minutes and your food isn’t done yet. If a spell calls for an amount of time, or use the whole candle, time interval, than the person who wrote that felt it was important. You don’t usually have to do a complete burn in one sitting. And staring at it or meditating upon it the whole time is also not always necessary. But whenever something is pointed out in a spell, the author felt it mattered. If you think you understand why a certain part of the spell is that way, then you can change it in a way that has similar meaning. So, burn the whole candle, in stages if need be, but follow recipes, until you get comfortable making up your own. Good luck. BB.

Yeah, I like to make big candles for my candle spells. I meditate on my intention when I light them in the morning for like 20 minutes. Then I let them burn all day (I work from home) and then repeat the next day until it burns out.

Cut the candle in a smaller part if it’s a candlestick. This will also give you more of the candle to burn for future things.

If it’s in a glass then I tend to extinction the flame when I’m done as it’s more in the smoke being the messenger
