I am trying to raise my girls to be strong and independent so I let them play with the toys they want and how they want and their ingenuity never ceases to amaze me.

I’m having flashbacks to when I gave my daughter all my old He-man dolls and D&D miniatures. We had some kick-ass tea parties. Who could have known Skeletor was such a gracious host?

On the flip side, my 2yo son likes to steal my jewelry to be like me and I’m not going to be the one to impose gender constraints on him and tell him boys don’t do that 🥰

My younger sister inherited a bunch of toys from me and my brother, growing up I had a bunch of Barbies, model cars, trains etc and my brother had a bunch of dragons, castles etc. One day my sister is playing with one of my old Barbies, a model jeep, and a dragon. I heard the following exchange:

“Rooaaar”

“Oh no! The dragon is catching up to barbie! But oh good she got to the Jeep in time!”

*Looks at dragon sadly*

“But now dragon is hungry….. Dragon should eat Barbie”

*Proceeds to feed Barbie to dragon*

Honestly one of my favorite memories of watching her grow up, a completely unexpected crossover of the toys she had.
