Every time I go to the beach I try to commune with the ocean(?). Sometimes i take things from the beach that the ocean washes up, if I am compelled to. The key is always to be quick when opportunity comes before it gets swept back in.

Perhaps learning about the sea from a science point of view will help you work with it from an intuition point of view.

Have you ever read any of Anwyn Avalon’s books on water magic? I’d recommend them if you’re interested in this

Depends on what you define as sea witch practice. I’m a bit more functional with my practice, i.e. incorporating the sea into occult practice and methodology at times. In that department, I’ve got a lot of experience. What sorts of things did you want to know? Some of it might even be useful for someone in folk practice.

Yes! Fellow newbie sea witch here! I’m also landlocked although I’m in Florida LOL! Hurt back and too poor to make the several hour trek to the beach.

Here are some books to read:

Mermaid Magic by Lucy Cavendish and Serene Conneely. Love this book! Very informative about mermaids, sea witches, connecting with the ocean. Had it in kindle and loved it so much I bought the physical book.

Sea Magic by Sandra Kynes. I have this but I’m still reading through the above book before I start this one. I’ve heard great things about this book so I’m looking forward to it.

Traditional Witchcraft for the Seashore by Melusina Draco. It was a good book but really dragged on with some of the needless history. Some was interesting but a lot of it was boring. But it had some good information. It’s only a few bucks on kindle so it was worth the price.

When you make it too the sea try finding a secluded spot to do your workings at and try to commune with the nearby entities to help you guard the place from interlopers.

There is an African tradition of Mami Wata. It is also a Celtic tradition.

Hi grizzled SeaWitch here. The sound of the sea soothes, beach sands are like seconds of time, shells are homes and artwork.
I have always felt more at ease when near the sea or even a large lake or river. Water cleanses, nurtures, and is strong. I have a witchy blog on WordPress under my username if anyone is interested. It has many witchy series.
    Baby Witch
    Making Magick
    Major Arcana
    The Elements
October’s theme is true scary stories.
