    hi !

i feel like this has been probably discussed or debated on this sub before, and i’m currently trying to find more information about it, but i just genuinely wanted some more strong answers to debunk this, only because, it seems to be something that i constantly encounter on twitter?

also if it has been discussed, i would love to be directed to the posts that have further discussed these things !!

i used to follow a lot of astrology pages, and essentially had to unfollow them for the sake of my mental health, but for some reason, many “astrologers” on twitter seem to be broadcasting that there are certain placements or even signs that rule over certain sexualities?

for example, one user was heavily adamant that sagittarius rules pansexuality, gemini = bi, and aquarius = homosexual, and further elaborated that both degrees and certain aspects indicate whether or not you’re queer.

i just wanted to know why this seems to be such a trend, and if any of these claims have actual backing or are supported by trends.

There are an infinite number of people calling themselves astrologers on twitter, tiktok, instagram, etc. who are not at all astrologers. They make up whatever they think will get them followers. Click bait is the master. There is NO validity to this sag/gem/aqua idea. Would you please send me the link privately to where you are seeing this misinformation?

Most of the astrology you find on social media is just toxic as hell, and not based in anything. No real training, no knowledge. Just fads and whatever will make them popular. There are, of course, some legitimate astrologers who use social media, but they are a very real minority.

Serious, professional astrologers with years and decades of experience have tried many methods to ascertain this whole issue of whether gender/sexuality can be determined in a chart. It can’t be done. Astrology can tell us a lot, but there are also many things it cannot tell us. It is powerful, but is not a magic ball into every possible detail of a human’s life.

It’s all the worse that people are reducing this whole idea of ascertaining gender/sexuality to just signs. Or even a single aspect. This is just shallow, mindless sun sign astrology. Has nothing to do with real astrology.

I think sexual styles (ie- into public sex, threesomes, swingers etc) can be possibly seen in a birth chart but not gender identity or orientation. (About to call myself out here lol- people ask me how I can be GASP a Taurus sun but enjoy threesomes since I’m the “jealous sign”. Ahem hello Venus/Uranus aspect at a 1 degree orb in my chart lollll)

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Im so sick of Aquarius being steryotyped as the “queer sign”. Any sign can be LGBTQ+. My only Aquarius placement is Uranus, I’m water/earth dominant and very bisexual. Anecdotally, every Aquarius I know IRL is cis and heterosexual.

I think these trends are honestly more harmful than anything because I can easily see a young impressionable person on Tiktok thinking they may not be queer enough because they have no Gemini/Aqua/Sag placements.

I don’t understand how can pan be ruled by sagittarius and bi by gemini when both those sexualities are almost identical except for the name and the fact that pan is under the bi umbrella. I think just for this, this theory is debunked.

it is possible to detect sexual preference but not specific gender identity since in the universe there’s many types of genders both in the physical realm and the spiritual realm. however the potential of being trans can be seen.

    So,

There are methods of determining gender, not biological sex.

    Here’s the thing.

Almost no biological man or woman is 100% masculine or feminine as far as gender goes.

You have a spectum of gender that includes biological males who are gendered male-female, and all sorts of variance in between, same for biological females.

As a trans person myself, I have collected numerous charts of trans folks.

I took and tested Hellenistic and Medieval rules and found that they hold quite startlingly true.

In fact, I have on one occasion presumed correctly an individual was transgender based soley on these methods and their chart without actually knowing.

While this is wildly impressive it’s impractical to expect that I would get the same results consistently.

However, I am yet to see a trans persons chart that did not reflect the ancient rules.

I get a hard time everytime this topic is brought up so I won’t get into the details.

I’ll just leave you with that. If you are curious about this, study the ancient rules and see for yourself.

Generally speaking, no, sexuality or gender identity are not visible in a chart.

You can see however how big role does sexuality or finding their identity plays in a person’s life from their chart. If you see a chart with hard placements regarding areas of identity, sexuality, family and social acceptance, even if cis/hetero people can face these kind of problems, the chances are good that it’s a chart of a queer person.

I would be curious to see if there is any statistic or even well formulated theories to begin with.

What I know of the majority of my friends with these sun signs is that they would actively try to avoid labels and gladly live a judgements-free life.

Maybe it is not true for every air sign mentioned but my guess is that their aesthetic choices have more to do with reflecting their mental state rather than sexual orientation.

Basing an ancient practice to a post colonial gender binary that has only existed for 400 years on a global scale is dangerous.

I think there may be certain aspects that are more associated with certain sexualities but I don’t think looking at the natal chart alone could determine the outcome… astrology is on the nature side of nature vs. nurture, so the nurture side (parents, family, environment, community and location) all play a role too. I can see how people would tend to think certain signs or elements are more inclined to be a different sexuality. For example, I’ve noticed a lot of Gemini and Libras are often gay or bi. Air signs tend to be more open to new ideas and not afraid to stray from the traditional status quo, so that might be why. Aquarius on the other hand, being fixed air, is more likely to be stubborn and perhaps traditional in their views, so maybe they’re less inclined to be open to more liberal ideas (obviously the entire chart is going to count more than sun sign though) I’m just noting a few things I’ve seen in my life, but they are by no means the “norm” or anything. It may or may not have a connection, but ultimately I would not rely on astrology to determine sexualities or even romantic identities. I know they say pisces Venus people are hopeless romantics, but I have Venus in pisces and I can’t stand romance or anything sappy 😅😂 so you never really know until you see the whole picture so to say

As an astrologer I do not believe you can make definate determinations as astrology is the interpretation of energy not physicality. Energy can and does eventually into the physical but we as human beings want black and white answers. You won’t find them in astrology; you will find tendencies

Omg what? Don’t trust the tiktok astrologers! In all seriousness, as some of the others have stated, most of what you find on social media is complete crap. I see it constantly. “Astrologers” talking about aspects that are not happening, just pulling them out of thin air. Assigning qualities to signs that are so vague they could apply to anything. It’s bad.

I was very surprised that the last person who read my chart pegged me – correctly – as polyamorous. (7H Venus Libra squared to 10H Uranus Capricorn). I think one can read sexual proclivities in a chart to an extent using aspects, but perhaps gender identity is harder to pin down.

I don’t think so. It’s very complex. Every individual is a mix of introvert/extrovert masculine/feminine energy and often it is unrelated to their gender and orientation. You can probably learn to get it maybe 6 out of 10 right or less, and it would most likely be your natural innate clairvoyance not astrological reading making it happen.

I did not get a chance to finish this [video](https://youtu.be/Z0GND-VXCN8) but what I took from the beginning is that for example Aquarius = homosexual bc Aquarius has Uranus/ Saturn as rulers… using Uranus the symbolism is the “odd one out” or something of the like; I think this is why that reduction to just Uranus being “quirky” or whatever is lacking in terms of defining sexuality/ feels super outdated.

I got from this video that Devon, and other queer astrologers, are seeking to redefine and define for ourselves the intersection between queerness and astrology, that probably can’t be reduced to simple explanations like oh gemini = two = bi lol. I think it’s probably a lot more complex than just one thing ( as is everything that has to do w defining people and characterizing our lives) But I think it will be interesting to see how this changes as more astrologers are open about queerness + their experience, and how they see that defined in their chart perhaps.
