GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amDo a little bit of research first though, do you don’t accidentally create dangerous/deadly things. Don’t make tea with unidentified leaves, make sure you know the possible dangers of any crystals you work with (some release toxic dust when you cut them)

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amYes! Although I love r/witchcraft, it can often be disempowering. So many people also ask others to interpret their dreams, divination, and omens… when they are the ONLY ones with the power to possibly know what it could mean for them. Thank you for this!

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amI call it
“This usually does well for this, mix that in, add some crystal chips, grind up some resins and herbs, carve a candle, pray it works”
Or
“I’m horny, let’s cast a spell using sex Magick and see what happens”

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amI still consider myself a beginner, as I’ve only been practicing a little over a year, and one of the very first things that I learned is that YOU know which herbs correspond best for YOUR spells. I do use books for reference, but if I am doing a happiness spell and I feel like rosemary would be a good herb to add, I add it. I just go with my gut and what feels right. Really when I do tea spells the only reason I use references are to see if the herb is edible and what physical/medicinal effects it has

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amMagic is in our core. It comes from us. The most powerful rituals and spells are ones that we ourselves create and perform. This means lots of experimenting and figuring out what works for you. The way you resonate with certain traditions and material components will be different than how others resonate with the same materials. Too many people in our society want clean cut clear instructions and don’t want to think or find their own answers through practice.

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amThis is perfectly true! Intention and experience have me making random well functioning spells off the cuff now all the time but in the beginning I always wanted to ask a more experienced witch if I “could” substitute so and so or add an oil that wasn’t originally suggested. It makes me smile to look back at my baby witch self. 🧙♀️

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amThis guy has zero knowledge of how science works and messes it up with personal experience. Unfortunately one thing has nothing to do with the other. Really, the scientific method isn’t that hard to understand on its own. Why do people keep messing this up.

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amYES! The only question I ask my friend sometimes is “hey can I do [this] to do [this]? cause I already did it

GuestJuly 12, 2021 at 9:01 amWitchcraft is an art. Literally nobody can tell you what to do or find your style/voice for you. They can only point you in the direction of general tools. Your voice improves as your life experience in the world and your connections to it deepen. End of.
