GuestOctober 11, 2021 at 7:17 pmMarigolds have some history for being used in ancestral work and also correspond with the sun. Being that it’s a mild psychoactive, it was also used in some ceremonial practices to induce visions causing it to sometimes be associated with divination and dreams. Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs has a section on it

GuestOctober 11, 2021 at 7:17 pmI saw a story once where a man in India was taking the old marigolds from the temples, drying them and making them into incense sticks.

Used for: protection, love divination, rotes of the dead, consecration.
Can be made into a balm good for the skin and insect bites, dries flowers.
Beltane and Samhain association.
I trim the flowers from the seed heads and use in bath salts, bath bombs, candle spells, protection spells. Then i share the seed with our local seed library. -

Either way, like someone else said, everything has a purpose in witchcraft!

GuestOctober 11, 2021 at 7:17 pmTwo books with entries on Marigolds, Encyclopedia of Magical herbs by Scott Cunningham, and Mastering Herbalism by Paul Huson, are worth the read. If I recall from memory, they have solar and Jupiterian associations.
