Spirits and their interaction with your vision?

Why does it seem like spirits like to manifest on the edge of your peripherals or play just outside of what you're focused on? How are they adept at not only doing it but knowing where to be? I've never seen a ghost manifest directly but I have felt and seen things I can't explain momentarily in my peripheral vision. I recently did something weird with my energy and now it seems I've attracted something again.

Is this ability to dodge/select detection something related to them having more knowledge or access to intuitive abilities as a spirit? Or is this something more related to our own mind and how we see spirits manifest – more inaptitude on our part then intent on the spirits? Any opinions are more than wel one.
