Spirits taking away physical or emotional pain?

Does anyone have insight on spirits alleviating physical or emotional pain? Not to be confused with attachments absorbing your energy, but more so loved ones trying to help comfort you. Im grieving heavily and sometimes ill feel that spirit come in and lessen the intensity. Sometimes I’ll be inconsolably sobbing then instantaneously stop crying. I’m just curious as to what this is or if anyone can shed insight 🙂
