Okay, so for context, I’ve owned a few tarot decks in my life but never really felt a “bond” with any of them, until a new deck arrived yesterday, the Ethereal Visions illuminated tarot deck. I feel such an attachment to it that it has actually startled me a little bit! I had never realised you could have such an instant magnetism with a deck.

I was inspired by a post on here yesterday to interview it, and that turned out great as well. I think this is the biggest reason I have never been consistent with tarot, because I have never had a connection to a deck before.

I’m now more inspired than ever to properly delve into tarot, and so I spent some time yesterday and today looking for an oracle deck to help me with more specific guidance. But, I haven’t found a single oracle deck that resonates with me? Does anyone else have this problem? Or any advice? I even thought about just picking one where I thought the art was cute, but I’m even having trouble finding decks I like the look of.

Alternatively, does anyone know of any oracle decks that complements the Ethereal Visions deck?

    Thanks so much in advance!

For Oracle decks, I have found its easier to connect with cards whose topic feels right. For example, I connected more to my animal oracle deck than to my angel oracle or kabbalah oracle, because I felt more connected with the ideas of animals as symbols/omens. So maybe consider what type of symbols you want. Animals? Plants? Angels, saints, or buddhas? How do you feel about faeries?

There are also oracle decks that are more similar to tarot, but aren’t tarot. Things like the Lenormand decks, or the Map Oracle (or so people who used both told me, I haven’t gotten into the Map oracle yet).

There are even card decks based on the I Ching, for those who don’t want to read coins or bones/sticks.

Have you looked at the Ethereal Visions Dreamscape oracle deck? I think the Kickstarter has ended but they may have made it available for preorder. Same artist, so very similar look to the tarot deck.

Oracles are more abstract than tarot. They all have different ‘themes’ and purpose, so figure that out first. What do you want guidance on? Love? Life? Self care?

You should check out The Lantern Oracle and The Isis Oracle. They can both be found on Amazon for relatively cheap. I have both and I love them. Messages from both decks have been profound and they deeply resonated with me.

I think for oracle decks it’s easier for me if I go by theme. What do you want your oracle deck to be about? Abundance? Love? Money? Female Archetypes? Once you narrow that down it’s really helpful. I specifically was looking for one on love so I got Psychic tarot for the Heart.
