JessicaParticipantWhen reading for friends, is it best to shuffle and cut your own deck? I’m thinking of having them just cut the deck, to make them feel involved in some way, but not sure if that’s ok either. Any experienced readers out there have any opinions on this?

GuestFebruary 11, 2021 at 1:03 pmSome people believe that you can’t let others touch your deck, in which case you’d cut it yourself.
If you don’t believe that, it may be a good idea to let them cut it so that they feel bought into the process. If you ask them to do it as a little favor to you, they will be more open to other questions from you later down the line. Psychology at work!

GuestFebruary 11, 2021 at 1:03 pmYou should trust your gut instinct. If you feel like you should let them cut it go for it . When you have your own tarot deck you set the rules for it .( As long as you know the basic rules of working tarot itself). If you want the client to cut it then go for it , if not then it will still work because you are diving on their behalf and their still right there ! ⭐️ it’s up to you ! I’ve divined on people who were in the same room as me without them touching the cards , and other times I would have them pick a card out of the deck when spread .

Letting the querent do the cut is a simple way to get them (if only symbolically/ritualistically) involved in the *process* and it makes the experience more involved and more invested and more fun for them.
However some readers like to keep their deck *untouched* in either the physical or metaphysical sense. (Perhaps more important than ever in the post-covid world.)
Both are valid reasons, and both are fine. It is a person choice. It is up to you.

GuestFebruary 11, 2021 at 1:03 pmI have my clients shuffle the deck themselves. The reading is theirs not mine and I’m not overly concerned about their energy polluting my deck. My take on it is, if the energy of the querent is that toxic or dangerous, why would you read for them? Doesn’t having them in the room and going into the process of the reading have to include that energy? Energy is. It is everywhere. I want their energy in the reading and I allow them to take it with them when they leave. I don’t fear the energy of others and I don’t fear my decks. I trust my boundaries and I trust my process.
