Tarot tattoos questions

Hi Everyone,

I’m planning to get a matching tattoo of a tarot card with my best friends, and from that, I have a couple of questions:

1. is it ok to even get a tarot card tattoo? I’ve been casually learning for the last 2 years and tarot means a lot to me, but I don’t know enough of the spiritual side to know if that’s ok.
2. If I get it, should I get it facing me, or the reverse? so if the card is facing me, it’ll look reversed with someone else looking at me / when standing up ( which of course has a more negative connotation), so is there a right way to get it?

I think if tarot is an important part of your life then absolutely feel free to get a tattoo of it!

Are you getting it on your forearm? That’s tricky, in regards to orientation then. Maybe there’s a way the tattooist can design it so it has a mirrored image so either way looks upright? Unless you have a specific tarot card design already in mind…?

It’s totally fine and the artist will generally recommend that you get things facing up from the perspective of someone looking at you. If that feels reversed think of it as being upright in the line of your body even if not to your eyesight. Obviously do what you want it’s just a conversation I’ve had with all my tattoo artists and they mostly prefer that kind of orientation for art
