The purpose of mediumship readings

Hello mediums.

I had a thought recently during some reflection that whenever I’ve given a reading in the past, there doesn’t appear to be a clear purpose and it seems to become more of an exercise in describing the sitters loved one and some of their shared memories.

Is this normal? Does spirit always need to come with a message or is this something you can develop? At the moment it feels like all I’m doing is relaying people’s memories back to them.
