# Is mediumship fortune telling?
Hey, hey, hey friend, come on in and enjoy something yummy to drink, with other like-minded people as we head into The Spiritual Coffee House’s Mediumship Monday Conversations. I know I am excited for this week’s topic, so make yourself at home and let’s get froggy and leap into…….
This week’s topic, “Is mediumship fortune telling?”
I am always so amazed when I find out that so many people still think that mediumship is fortune telling. Why I am amazed, I truly don’t know because, I cannot expect someone to know what they do not know. Hopefully we can clear up a few things about mediumship.
First thing is that mediumship is not fortune telling, it is about connecting with your loved ones in spirit. Now, let me digress for a moment here if you will. I should have said, there may be at times a small aspect of that in mediumship, as we are not in control of the messages spirit is going to deliver. However, I have never been given lotto numbers for someone to play or much else by the way of what I consider to be fortune telling.
There are times when we may get something along the lines of “if you make better choices and do the work in XYZ area, you will find that your business increases or that you will find the love you are searching for in this life.”
Or, “if you want to have XYZ, you will need to do XYZ.” Yes, this is very generalized because we are not talking about an actual reading. Some may consider that fortune telling, but if they do it would be a stretch in my mind.
Mediumship is about connecting with your loved ones for healing. Mediumship when done properly should give you at least one piece of evidence/or a memory that there is no way the medium could have known. This is to show the sitter that there is a true connection made with the individual in spirit. The medium should also be able to give the essence/emotion of the individual in spirit. Then there should be a clear message from spirit.
The message is going to be whatever spirit feels you need to hear. The medium’s job is to give what they get from spirit. We are simply a middle person. We all can be as good a medium as we want to be, but if spirit does not show up or participate, we have nothing.
So, let’s talk about what a mediums job is not….it is not our job to give you winning lotto numbers. If it worked like that, ALL lotto winners would be mediums. It is about helping people! And also, it is not about using mediumship unethically or for an unfair advantage or for personal gain.
It is not our job to tell you about when you are going to find love or when your significant other is going to start treating you properly, or finally if your significant other is cheating on you. That is not what mediumship is all about.
First, if you think your significant other is cheating on you, it is 99% sure that your intuition is already screaming at you, and you are just seeking confirmation and/or validation.
If you want to know if they will start treating you better, you don’t need a medium. Just look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are allowing yourself to be treated badly? What you accept, is what you will get. You don’t need a medium for that. Do something different! Stop accepting bad treatment!
If you are asking about finding love, what are you doing to find it? Are you doing the work on yourself so that you will be ready when it arrives? What are you doing to find it? If you are not putting yourself out there is some way shape or form, or if you are not doing the work, why is the universe going to bring it to you before the time is right?
We can follow that up with finances. Like when will I start making a lot of money, etc, etc, etc.
All the things listed above are within your control. You don’t need a medium for those things and you certainly don’t need to spend the money.
It is my opinion that mediumship is all about connecting with your loved ones for healing and guidance, not for fortune telling. Yes, some of those aspects can absolutely come up in readings, but that is not the main focus.
No one can really tell you your future because we all have freewill. Can there be a degree of telling your future? Sure, but again your choices constantly change the variables. A great example is, I have a good friend of roughly three decades that just asked me why I LET him do something. LOL! (We are not going to get into his personal business here) I told him BEFOREHAND that I did not encourage what he was contemplating and I felt it would not work out well for him, and he CHOOSE to do it anyway. Then the universe handed him something he didn’t like. That is a good example of freewill and how the choices you make today = life tomorrow. Therefore no one can truly tell your future.
I hope that this helps to clear up some of the differences between ethical mediumship and fortune telling.
