I’m noticing this new wave of entitlement on this subreddit that I’m not very fond of. Demanding free readings, questioning and challenging people’s abilities. Just overall, not so kind, impatient, skeptical people. It’s becoming unbearable at this point.. It’s giving ‘Hey, can you do a trick’ vibes and I don’t like that.

I only read for people I feel called to read for, which is generally people in emergencies, who need at the very least an outsider view. But I do turn down a lot of people, mostly because I know I’m not in a good space and I don’t have it to give.

Reading for me is like doing emotional labor for someone, so it is draining most of the time. That said, as brought up in another thread, there are people I’ve read for that really try to “squeeze” everything out of me, or when I’m coming to a close, use guilt to try to get me to help others they know or come back for more.

I don’ t necessarily regret reading for high drama people, as crisis tends to make people dramatic, but sometimes in hindsight I wish I’d have chose self care for myself instead of trying to help others.

I’d rather deal with entitled people than extremely hostile people. Sometimes there is a thin line between spiritual crisis and mental illness..and either way it’s hard to communicate with someone in such a headspace.

What’s even more sad is that all readings on here must be free of charge, and there’s plenty of readers offering free readings – and yet still some people are rude, entitled and ungrateful.

Unsolicited messages demanding – not asking for – readings, no please or thank you, no feedback, asking Colombo questions (“just one more thing…!”) then arguing because you won’t tell them what they want to hear….

I’ve personally been called ‘stingy’ because I wouldn’t read for someone who was rude to me before demanding a reading I won’t offer, I’ve been told it’s my ‘duty’ to share my gift with anyone who wants it and that I have no right to deny anyone a reading. Well, actually I have every right to, thank you! My energy, my gift, my choice!

But I’m far from alone. A lot of readers here get similar. Some messages our readers get are verging harassment. And after giving so much time & energy, it’s hugely disheartening.

And don’t even get me started on those ‘I don’t believe in you but prove me wrong” types of posts. Those are just extremely rude & disrespectful. It’s perfectly okay not to believe, but to come into a psychic forum and basically call everyone frauds before trying to score a free reading? We all know you’re just trying to score a free reading, insulting us is never the way to do it. And sorry, wrong sub, we don’t have performing seals here….

Don’t misunderstand me, a lot of people, most people actually, who do get readings are lovely, polite and grateful. I’ve met some wonderful
people here I’m always glad to speak to, always happy to help, but those few who behave in that entitled manner can really discourage any reader from continuing to offer their services here.

It’s no wonder a lot of readers move on.

Its not just here. Its everywhere. Sub of witches and magick get ”Does magick really works?” type of posts.

If you answer to post like that with best of your ability you gonna get BUT science says, I tried didnt work, friend said didnt work, how it works, how do you know for sure etc.

Its not new. Lots of toxic people on this sub. I rarely post offers on this site anymore but if I do its for who i am drawn to or I will check their page to check them out before connecting my energy to theirs. If i see that they have already asked several other readers the same question and have been answered I will pass, If they troll I pass and I pass on new accounts with no posts. That being said when i had little confidence in my ability to read for people, this site really served me and I’m really grateful for it and all of the people on it.

This will likely make me unpopular with some…

I have a term I call “Freebie Abusers,” which is a set of people who feel everything should be free. Back when dinosaurs ruled the earth I worked for a psychic line, and then I worked briefly on a psychic chat service. The company offered x amount of time for free for new users, and so of course the same people would just make new accounts and get their free five minutes or whatever the hell it was, and then would come in rushing and demanding and being rude, and heaven forbid you did not tell them what they wanted to hear, because then they’d leave terrible ratings and comments on the chat site. Of course they never paid, they hung up before it charged money.

So when I did the smart thing, and went out on my own (because any of those services took a huge cut and hugely underpaid the workers while grossly overcharging the clientele,) many years ago, I found I rarely got a rude, entitled person asking after services – I didn’t get the freebie abusers, really. Instead, maybe once a year or so, I will get this person who asks me “Just tell me if so and so is coming back, and if you do I’ll buy a reading,” or something along those lines. I tell them “Buy a reading, and I’ll let you know the answer.” Sometimes they will have a meltdown and tell me I’m awful and evil and all that ridiculousness (amazing how if you refuse to work for this type they devolve into gross behavior so easily,) but normally they just quietly go on their way.

When I post on reddit I will get a few people angling after a free reading. I will just kindly inform them that I have been reading cards for almost 3/4 of my life, and at this point I no longer offer free readings, but perhaps they can find someone just starting out who needs the experience and will do a free reading. MOST people are not rude and thank me for my time (and generally go look for a free reader), but if they get rude then I know exactly what they are… A freebie abuser. These people that think everything should be free, and will gripe and complain and say terrible things if not given far more for free (because I’m sure they try to never pay for any service or utility or anything unless they have no choice) than any normal human would have expected to begin with.

I like to think these people arent interested in the professional experience and literally just want a friend to talk to about such topics. They should learn to accept that.

The line between Authenticity and Charlatans? Surely this question must rise up from your Freebies mention.

How many people do you figure are authentic versus money grubbing bull crap artists?

I am quite certain many who ask for readings on this sub have never considered their desire to have their fortunes told are too lazy to realize their futures are written by their own beliefs, actions, or inactions.

Entitlement is rampant these days. Instant gratification and the speed at which information can be transferred. Not too mention the piracy. It has created an entire generation of people who don’t want to work, or put the required energy into achieving their dreams. They would rather do as little possible to get as much as they can out of life. This energy pervades all walks of life. Including Psychic counseling.

It is also the path that creates a livelihood for those who understand human weakness and want to capitalize on it. Many of whom use this sub to create that revenue stream.

For the first half of my life I was certain all psychics relied on the law of self-fulfilling prophecies to boost their efficiency. That once they were able to CONvince their clients they could read their future, the client would fulfill the future by generating the beliefs required to create it.

Then I met the real deal. Led there by affirmations of meeting my soul mate. Be careful what you affirm by the way.

Once you meet the real deal, you begin to open up to the part of yourself that can tap into your own psychic gifts.

But then, if you have an honest soul, you are struck by the ethics of sharing what you see about others futures.

The law on non-interference comes to mind. Prime Directive for the Trekkers out there.

After 11 Months of allowing my intuition to be superceded by another with a much more powerful intuition a simple question formed in my mind.

If someone else tells you your future, why bother living it? Kind of boring if you ask me. Plus it kind of subtracts from being the master of your life.

I think that is why we get the mind wipe before incarnating. It would be like going to the surprise party you know is waiting for you. Kind of ruins the surprise.

We all get frustrated by life’s pitfalls and want to gain access to sources that can give us answers on how to navigate in this world.

The most powerful and wisest psychics in the world will not tie a client to themselves for a constant flow of revenue. Instead they will open them to their own intuition freeing them to be led from within. The word of mouth for that kind of reading will create its own flow of clientele. And will also put an end to the nagging freebies and suspicion from those who are skeptical.
