So I’m a novice here, but clearly I’m not learning something that I need to be. I don’t do readings on myself often and because of that I journal all of them. My last one was done during the new moon in Cancer. While that reading was fuzzy while doing my latest reading (full moon in Capricorn), I do distinctly remember the King of swords (reversed) showing up.

Something tells me I’m clearly not getting the message I’m supposed to learn.

What I’m hoping to find here is what has been your experience when a card (specifically this one or not) appears so clearly like this? What is your response? Do you read the card reversed or not?

Any advice and experience is welcome 🙏

I always read reversed, but you don’t have to. The focus of your reading should give you a clue how to respond to the card. For example, if I was seeking guidance about a new job and I got the king of swords reversed, I’d be extra careful about communication and controlling self doubt.

Seems like there might be a male authority figure impeding your intellectual development, if you ask me…buy that’s just my off-the-cuff impression

The meaning could vary depending on the questions you asked, the deck you used, and what you associate the King of Swords with.

I have had recurring cards pop up at different times. I can’t think of a specific one recently, but now that I think about it, I did have a period in my late twenties where I got the Queen of Swords and King of Swords a couple of times.

At that time in my life, I don’t think I understood what the cards were trying to tell me. Most likely, the advice related to being too much in my head. I’m an over thinker and also someone with a very vivid imagination. So it was probably cautioning me to use my mind wisely.

I was also in therapy at the time and learning how to shift my perspective because sometimes I would put too much emphasis on the worst case scenario of situations instead of looking at things from a balanced and logical perspective.

I don’t know if that relates at all to what your King of Swords might mean though. Context, personal experience, your own understanding of symbols can affect how the reading should be interpreted.

Depends on where it is at in the reading. The court cards often represent people, but could also represent the situations or influences, depending on the position in the reading. The King of Swords reversed indicates a person or influence who is domineering, rigid and focused on winning above all else. Living in a sharp and controlling mental space versus well being of oneself or those around. Person or situation like that.
