so this is a bit of a weird topic but it has got me thinking! my mama passed away Sept. 30, 2021 from an ongoing battle of early onset alzheimer’s. i would say for the last 9 years or so, she has not been present in my life like a “mom” would be. it makes me wonder because she has missed so much of my growth, and now that i’m 21 and she has passed, it’s like she has to watch me grow up from here on out. anyone have any thoughts/similar experience?

The body is not the spirit. I know of passed over people whose after life was not effected by their physical state while alive (except to relate/connect themselves to the still living).

I’m just coming here to say I’m so very sorry. I don’t know nearly how heartbreaking it is but I have some knowledge. My grandmother passed young from early onset. I wasn’t too close to her but it still haunts me. So, my heart is with you deeply. From my standpoint, she will always be near or around and will even put her hands into the game, I guess, if you need her to. She, no doutably in my mind, will be there for you. All you have to do is keep open to her and her love. It’s different but the love is the same. I think with these situations, the souls of these people have already been let go, in a way but still tethered until they pass…then they are truly free again. I hope you can find comfort in knowing she is free from that horrible, scary and sad disease. She is not that woman on the other side. She is the smart, capable, healthy woman thriving again.

My dad had a massive stroke in 2006 and lingered until early 2015. He was as present as he could manage but I still missed how he used to be.

Are you asking if your mom remembers everything up to her death, or only everything until nine years ago?
