Unusual reading style

Trying to learn to read the cards. Had a deck end up in my work truck, took it as a sign saying I should at least try and understand them.

A friend of mine asked what I was doing with a deck of tarot cards. I had never mentioned finding them. She then asked me to do a read from them for her. Very specific card pulls. She asked me to split the deck into four equal piles. All face down. Then asked me to pull the second card from the top of each pile for my reading. Has anyone ever heard of that technique? She isn’t a card reader anymore, just had one of her guides tell her to have me do that for a reading. No, I don’t remember the cards, it was a week or two ago.

A lot of readers have specific ways of shuffling and pulling cards that just feel right to the individual. If it resonates do it, if not, it’s not for you. It also depends if you trust her guides to guide you as well. I’m not saying they are trying to mislead you or that you shouldn’t listen but I’m always wary about taking advice from guides that aren’t mine. Let your intuition decide for you would be my advice.

There’s not a one right way to do it but some would argue that splitting the deck in some manner (though HOW differs on who you ask) is a more traditional way of doing it. Nowadays it’s become more common for people to just free pull at random or from the top of the deck or to just cut it once and draw one after the other and so on. There are also those who just continuously shuffle and only read what falls out naturally on its own, too, which is an interesting new way of reading.
