I’m an artist, and my art is, well, weird. Without burdening you with an essay-length artists statement, I’ll share that it’s always been about the journey I’m taking with my body. Years of body disphoria, eating disorders, anxiety, etc. have led me to lean into artmaking as therapy, but it has always been created with another, outside media (mostly sculpture) and never with my *real* body.
A few months ago I adapted my sculptural style to create furniture, a chair, and have recently explored a photographic series with it. The series is new, scary, and involves my nude body interacting with the work. I want to share the photos because I’m really proud of the work, and I’m feeling *really* vulnerable exposing myself (literally) in this way. But my gut tells me I need to make it, I need to share it, and I’m going to go with my gut.
Send me your good vibes as I write proposals to galleries. It’s a lot of cold-calls and introductory emails. I’ll post a link to my website with more from the series if there’s any interest.
