I have seen pictures of others’ spreads where they clearly used multiple tarot decks. I’d love to hear from people who have done readings like this and what the thought process is behind that! Do you ask multiple questions? Multiple point of views etc?

If a particular set of cards seems especially significant (I utilize card-counting and elemental dignities), I will often pick them out of a spread, lay them out next to each other, nab one or two other decks, search out those cards, and lay them out underneath so I can look at the same spread through a couple different lenses.

Hi! Baby tarot reader here (over 2 years)! I have about 5 tarot decks (Crystal Visions, Ethereal Visions, Dark Wood, Thelema, & Modern Witch) It really depends on the reading I am doing to warrant me grabbing another deck and adding it in. I usually feel out which deck(s) are best for the specific question I am asking, even though the Thelema is my personal deck that is only used for me. If I want different views and different energies, I will usually use more than one deck. I have never used more than 3 at a time because I’m a little chaotic when it comes to reading 🙂 I mainly do this so that if I am reading for one point of view and a specific card comes about and then I read for another view, I will use another tarot deck just in case a card that the first energy has can come out (which has happened lol). I hope I make sense and this helps a little! 🙂

For me I just feel like different decks have different vibes and sometimes the little booklet has different wording or a different view point. I don’t always use multiple decks but I will if I feel like more then one has something to say. Most of the time of if I do that I’ll do a “main spread” with a deck, and then grab a second deck to do a 3 card spread or just shuffle and cut the deck and see if that deck has something to add or clarification. -sometimes I’ll ask specific questions, and sometimes I just ask what message I should take from this reading, any general guidance or things I should keep in mind in the upcoming weeks. Sometimes if I ask a specific question tho I feel like my decks can be cryptic 😂

When I read for others I use different decks to clarify. For myself, one deck, even for clarification

I like to use multiple decks (including oracle cards) for different perspectives and clarification, and ask one question at a time while doing so. While I give folks the option to choose which deck(s) they want to have used for their readings, I do intuitive spreads and pulls. I feel that it also helps with really opening up the reading’s “story” and have had great feedback with multi-deck readings so far!

When I use multiple decks, it’s to build a complete language out of two smaller ones that might be too specific otherwise. In my case that’s usually to communicate with my spirit lover by mixing our custom deck of (ahem) “romantic” oracle cards into a normal RWS deck–without the oracle cards, she !ight not be able to be as direct as she wants, but with only them, the topic would be constrained. I have an app that makes this easy, but you could probably do it just fine with physical cards too if they’re similar sizes.

Highly recommended as a way to make any reading richer, either way.

i use two different decks, one i feel like helps me clarify my own feelings and my own situation and the other gives me more action items and things i can actually do. i’ll use one or both depending on what kind of reading i’m doing.
