Mabon is rolling around and for those of you who are having a hard time thinking of what to do, I did a lot of thinking and I compiled a list of what I’ll be doing.

\#1. Setting up your autumn altar. It’s hard not to do it early, since I love doing it, but I’m currently getting items for my autumn altar to prepare for Mabon. If you’ve never done this, it’s rather fun and I really encourage you to change your altar depending on the seasons. It’s good for connecting us to nature and the world around us.

\#2. Apple doll making. Apple dolls are skinned apples that have been carved into the shape of a face, and you allow them to dry, which wrinkles them and makes a face that looks old, like an elderly person. They’re soaked in lemon-salt water, so they have strong protective properties, and for those of you who have a Yule tree, make the Mabon apple dolls into ornaments for your tree! It’s so much fun to make them, and so easy, just look up a tutorial or ask me in the comments, I’ll gladly explain as in depth as you’d like.

\#3. Baked Apples. Baked apples are another apple recipe, and I had a blast making these last year. They’re just cored apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, and other ingredients stuffed inside (Roasted walnuts and cranberries are popular add ins). I associate them with abundance, because cinnamon is such a prominent ingredient. They’re fun to make, and I wrap them with pie crust.

\#4. Connect with your ancestors. For me this means taking a nature walk, making baked apples (my great grandmother’s specialty), baking bread, and spending time by my favorite river. The river reminds me of time passing, with water smoothed rocks to collect and shells by the sandy shore of the water, it all just brings me to a place where my ancestors are. No matter what that is for you, connecting to your ancestors is easier in the autumn and it’s a good time to go back to your roots.

\#5. Make an abundance spell. For me, this spell will take the form of an enchanted bracelet. Mabon is a celebration of the harvest, and since most of us don’t have a harvest to collect, we can draw in abundance during this symbolic time.

I hope this helps your celebration, for me I’ll be joining Mabon with celebrating my witchcraft anniversary, so I couldn’t include everything I’m doing, but I intended for this to be a building stone for you to try to add to. Have a nice day, peace and blessings!

I will often make Mabon Bread (many recipes can be found online), we have a Mabon feast & drink mulled wine & hot spiced cider.

We also do an old Mabon ritual.
    The Green-mans Sleep:
    You will need:
    Fresh Lavender – 1/2 cup
    Fresh Chamomile – 1/2 cup
Fresh Rose petals – 1/2 cup
Moon Water – 3 cups (Preferably from a new or full moon) – The Lavender, Chamomile & Rose petals ideally should be collected during a full moon; although not essential.
Bring the water to a boil & add the herbs. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, remove from heat & let cool. Decant the mixture into a glass or ceramic container.
Take the mixture outside & pour a bit of it at the base of as many trees as you’d like. As you’re doing this, think about what the trees have provided over the summer – shade, beautiful leaves, maybe flowers ect. Feel & give gratitude to each tree. If you’re so inclined, share your energy with the trees & give them a hug. The trees will feel your energy as they release & prepare for sleep. What a lovely way to say “goodnight”.

#2.You and I both had pictures for the apple dolls last year. Pics are on for weekends, why not post those pics again? Be nice to see that. BB.

My partner and I don’t do much celebrations. We’re just planning on having a charcuterie board night. We’ve got some great Ukrainian kolbasa in the freezer (might pull out the bison for Mabon) and a nice bottle of red wine we got while on vacation earlier this month.

I’m finally gonna be making an altar for one of the sabbats! I’m still looking for a couple of items for it, but I’m happy with what I have so far! I also have some recipes I’m gonna try, so that’ll be fun!
