I am a baby witch who has been loosely practicing for a year but now that I started a new chapter in my life and got the chance to actually do something for my self I want to use it for something good.

I am almost completely starting new, without a routine since ADHD and a ruff time robbed me that so I have a lot of time to fill. Of course I won’t over do it and try to consult a professional about my mental health but for now this has to do it for me.

I already lessened my anxiety around death thanks to some very good book recommendations, so I hope that this will be another chance to get something new to learn.

In general I am looking for advice on daily rituals, meditation, shadow work and grounding.

Thanks in advance for ideas and help. Blessed be

The way I stir my coffee. Counter-clockwise a few times to ward away things I’m anxious about, then clockwise while stating out loud things I’m hopeful for, then a pentacle and clockwise circle.

It may sound silly but “please” and “thank you” when I am asking and/or have received.
It doesn’t have to be a huge ritual…although sometimes it is wonderful to go big…but approaching my deity and my day with gratitude and humility has taken a lot of my edge off.

My rituals and such have changed a lot over the years, but I do have a couple currently. I sit down with my Deities every morning before work with my coffee, talk to them a bit, and pull cards for what they have planned for me that day; and most nights I put on some form of healing binaural beats (like an hour or so) to fall asleep to asking to receive the healing it provides.

I take my morning coffee as an opportunity to connect with the spirits that I work with. I have a rotation but it’s not hard and fast. I’ll do some card reading with them, and offer coffee to them at the same time. It’s a great way to keep in touch and set things for the rest of my day

Cleansing is important to me. Depending on the day, that can be smoke cleansing, sun cleansing, sound cleansing, visualization, or water cleansing. However I try to do some form of cleansing every day. If I let the energies from the day build up and linger, it’s not a good idea for me.

One daily ritual I always do is stirring intention into my coffee. Once my coffee is brewed I add a splash of french vanilla creamer, then stir clockwise with the intention of keeping my cool throughout the day.

To echo a lot of the other comments here, my morning coffee is a small ritual and will use it to set intentions for the day.

I wear a few different crystal bracelets to help me through the day, and the way I put them on in the morning is another small ritual for me.

I also do a personal cleansing in the shower, using it to “wash away” any negativity and stress that has built up during the day. And I say a small prayer of gratitude right after I turn the lights out to go to bed at night.

My nightly opening of the door that I do. Every night I at the least ground and center, then ask if there is anyone that wishes to communicate tonight. Some nights I get nobody other nights 2 or 3 of my deities will show up

On esbats I tend to focus on what themes the full or new moon bring with them and apply it to my practice

Sabbats i tend to come up with something that applies to that season.

I plan almost nothing. Most start and end the same way but in between I just do what feels right

There are a few things I started to do that helped create sanctity in my day to day, which has translated into spiritual practice:

    1. Meditation every day (I started with 5 mins and worked up to 30hr – 1hr/day)
    2. Winking at myself in the mirror and saying something nice to her
    3. Making my bed every morning
    4. Writing down my dreams before checking my phone in the morning

These were all little sprinkles of things I wanted to incorporate into my life that didn’t feel super overwhelming. The most consistent thing through it all is compassion: if I miss a day, it’s ok, because I’ll show up again tomorrow.

I check my shields and aura energy flow before I step out of the shower.

Decide on something you want to add to your practice. And choose something you do every day already. Put the two together. Coffee + morning affirmation. Shower + cleansing. “Can’t sleep” + calm meditation.

    1. If your rituals involve spirits or deities of any kind, don’t make promises you can’t keep. If you know you’re not going to be able to prepare a home-baked offering for them every Sunday, don’t try to commit yourself to it. Keep things small and reasonable, like lighting a candle or incense, doing something to honour them, etc.

    2. Try to build your rituals into existing habits and routines. If you already do yoga or some other form of exercise, tag some meditation and grounding at the start or end (I find meditation much easier after I’ve done exercise). If you meal prep on the weekend, that’s your time to do a simmer pot or add a little magic into your food.

    3. Make whatever rituals you do meaningful to you. For example, a lot of comments say their morning coffee or tea – which is great! But I don’t drink either, so it would be weird for me to try and force that into my routine. Your rituals might involve going out of your way a bit, but if they’re something that is uncomfortable or feels unnatural to you, you probably won’t kept them.

This is a smaller one, but it’s super important to me. Drinking water with intention.
I mean, just think about it, water is literally LIFE NECTAR. It sustains every living being. It is what many creatures call home, and it is what all creatures are dependent on.
I drink water with the intention of being energized, the intention of living a prosperous life, and with intense respect for the sheer power that water has.
